I'm more used to such things in a living room or dining room, but decorative plates on the wall isn't unusual is it? My grandma had a set with horses on which I loved as a child - I have them now, since she had to move to a care home and her house was sold. I shall have to think about putting them up once I get my own place.

I've seen plenty of plates on walls, but never on a bathroom wall before.

Like I said I'm more used to them in other rooms but I dunno... it just doesn't seem like a particularly remarkable leap, once you've established the function of plates as wall decor. It's not like you're intended to eat off them or anything.

Why do these Essex wide boy agents insist on prefixing all their property descriptions with "*** BUY ME ***", surprised they don't throw in that Ebay favourite L@@K as well!

I have to confess as not being a fan of wall plates (the dusting aspect for one), but understand some people like them. However they just seem a bit pointless in a bathroom.

*have to admit to being a minimalist, dislike ornaments, probably because I grew up in a house full of them.

Are they any less pointless anywhere else? I suppose if the point was to show them off to guests, it's perhaps not the obvious place, but many people do put decorative elements in bathrooms.

Personally, I'd like to have my grandma's plates up in my house but I'm not at all sure I do want to show them off to guests. I like them myself, besides their value as mementos, but I don't know how fashionable they are. I shall probably opt for the study over the bathroom, though.

I wouldn't worry about fashion :) I think the only limiting factor in how we choose to decorate our own homes are what we can reasonable maintain and keep clean. If that is what you like and you can cope with the dusting, go for it! :)

I don't mind the wooden panelled living room (minus the stuffed animals and pictures) but the rest of the house is hideous.

When the house was posted on this thread there was a debate as to whether the fox on the stairs was climbing up or sliding down the banister. The pic in the article suggest a 3rd option, he just REALLY likes it.
