There's a trick. When the towel roll jams and won't move, reach for the back of the roll where it goes back up into the thing and, holding both sides, tug the towel sharply downwards. This releases whatever it is that has jammed and means you can then wind it on and find a clean, dry unused bit.

I was taught that trick at school aged 9 and it's still one of the more useful things I learnt at school.

Oh I know about the tugging the back trick. The problem my boss had was the one in our gents the towel wouldn't roll in at the back, hence a long length of roll that was fed out the front got draped across the top of the machine.

Those were the days. Can't remember the last time I saw one of those machines.....don't miss them either!

Is it me, or does this look like a very good update to the front aspect, then hardly any thought inside (other than someone who wants a tv room.

In Leicestershire, there are dozens of houses that had the update done, some nice, some horrible. Mainly done in areas with a high Asian population as seen their religions symbols either in the front door glass or incorporated into the metal gates of the larger houses. IMO look tacky. I think what they are spending doesn't get added to the value of the property. So it may cost them £55k as some get the loft converted and an extension, but may only increase value by £30k

Could any one help me with this "many original features which undoubtedly adds to its charm." conundrum?

    Is it the fireplace?

    The kitchen?

    The banisters?

Or the charming basin in the bedroom?

I had a kitchen similar to that in a brand new house we bought in the mid 80s.
