The houses down the road look as if they're on artificially raised land and they've built a stone bank along the stream-side as protection from the water and erosion. It's a nice feature.ukmaggie45 wrote: »So where does the water go? Surely it increases flood risk for those houses?
Any flood water will go into the field, where it's not a problem.
With the house in question, raising the site and thus probably needing more expensive foundations for the re-build is a consideration, but I think the location's worth it.0 -
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-58916380.html Nice house needing updating and something else. Picture 8 made me pause.0

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-69170396.html Perhaps they could have spent less time tiling the garden and more time tiling the bathroom before the pictures were taken?0

Pics 1 and 10...I'd love to sleep somewhere with those amazing views on holiday perhaps, but not sure how happy I'd be living there...seems to be no blinds/curtains and whilst you wouldn't expect any peeping toms at that height I'd still be a bit nervous about getting changed/having an "overnight guest" in full view of a stray helicopter/ some neighbour peering from the side
Black blinds hanging vertically at the sides of the windows, would need something to allow a lie-in during summer if not privacy.0 -

This seller loves their orange wood
Tastefully presented and finished to a good standard are not the first words that came to mind. :eek:A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

I wonder what the view looks like when it is raining and the cloud is low?0 -
This one makes me sad, maybe I'm just projecting but it feels like someone's dream died here

Whenever I see a (non-derelict) house put up for auction my first thoughts are "Why are they so desperate to sell: what it wrong with it?" Auction is the last chance saloon for properties and a bit of digging usually reveals the issue(s). Though in this case it is right there in the listing:Bossypants wrote: »This one makes me sad, maybe I'm just projecting but it feels like someone's dream died here
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property0-70056239.htmlAuctioneers' Note:Which could explain the auction sale, if not the actual reason why as a new build it failed to get signed off.
When the property was constructed it was not signed off at building control.
They might well need all their dreams in full working order to find a buyer willing to put up £450k+ in cash to buy it and then fix whatever problems there are.
SPCome on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.0 -
I guess that translates into some cowboy builder somewhere in the vicinity is not on the vendors Christmas Card list - rather a long way to the reverse of....:(0
