I suspect the plot was part of the field behind, which is around five acres in size and could have been boringly called 'Five Acres' to distinguish it from the others. Quite often, houses, or roads take the names of fields they're built on.
Near me, there's Joey's Field, a pleasant little village cul-de-sac. I wonder who, or what, Joey was.....a donkey springs to mind!0 -
