27 acres!
A lot of land for the money - but it's all about the land and rather boggy land by the look of it at that. Probably nowhere to live (even to the extent of squatting) as house is probably one step short of a ruin.
Mind you - one can deal with land like that - with a lot of dedication (and the temperament to live in that isolated a spot). See
https://bealtainecottage.com
(click on heading "before permaculture and the transformation").
and she's got loads of before and after photos on the website.0 -

You're ignoring altitude. The Welsh property is at over 1100' above sea level, probably at the sort of level the wind turbines are in the pictures shown on the site you link to, so direct comparisons can't be made.
You are looking at 27 acres of land like much of that on uncultivated parts of Dartmoor, and there's a reason why they remain uncultivated!
Do you like sheep?0 -
Errrmm....point to investigate re the height there. Hmmm...there is that guy Sepp Holzer out there in Austria part way up a mountain and having done a permaculture revamp of his land - and very nice it looks too. Not to mention a few people in desert areas that have done the same.
Okays - make that an extra dose of determination to deal with that land and that American phrase of "The difficult we do easily. The impossible takes a little longer".0 -
I think what I was saying is that 27 acres sounds wonderful, but maybe 1/2 an acre can do just as much at a lower level, although it sounds less impressive.
I have nothing but admiration for people who tackle marginal land. I just don't want to be one of them, and it's doubtful whether many of us here would, given the real privations they suffer.0 -
