EDIT: Pylon must have been there first. No-one would even think of doing that to a home-owner would they? (NB: If they have, can we see a photo of their plot in the local graveyard?).
Think the house based on the design was built in the 1950s. If the National Grid put the thing up after the house was built, they probably offered the then resident compensation.
If it was there before the houses, they would not build a house there. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Crikey! Well...am guessing that compensation is a LOT more than I thought for something like that then, as the "then resident" isn't there to this day (or house abandoned if they have "shuffled off this mortal coil") and with every sort of greenery they can think of growing up the blimmin' thing to try and mask it.
Yep....make that Dave thinking "More evidence Money is a NIMBY". Hand on heart = admitted:rotfl:
Will now spend a few moments thinking JUST how much compensation I would require if anyone tried to do that to me.....do they pay enough to buy a better house AND cover the swopover costs (as I call them), as that's the least I would settle for personally and think "Oh well...that's an end to the matter"? That's a genuine question actually......and not a rhetorical one. I admit to being shocked that anyone could do something like that to someone.
I really DO think that's an awful thing to do to someone and, if it was done to a friend of mine without appropriate compensation, would probably end up "accidentally" throwing all sorts over their Garden Excrescence on their behalf every time I visited them...0 -

i take it the white on the sofa is to help you locate it, without it would blend in with the carpet and be a trip hazard. health and safety!Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0 -

Looks more 1930s than 1950s to me, so unlikely to have been built after the pylon. Having said that I don't think pylons are uniquely ugly. For example a friend of mine lives in a house with about 50 cm of 'garden' between the front door and the pavement, then a busy road with bus stop. That's pretty common, and I think I'd take the pylon any day over having my living room 1.5 m from a main road.

Looking at the name, could it be a retirement complex for disaffected vegetarians?
That made me laugh:rotfl: whn I saw it I wondered why a place in Weymouth was called after a place in Skye.......maybe the MacLeods retire to Weymouth??Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi
