Is the "sea view" one where you look at it and then instantly start calculating just how long it will be before it's actually IN the sea iyswim?
I was just referring to the bargain price for such a huge (and rather nice) house :beer:0 -

Yes, I know it well. House prices are cheap although increase substantially if you travel the 3 miles to the next village, which is just inside the National Park boundary. I'm not sure Sellafield has too much of an impact on the house prices to be honest (compared with other Cumbrian coastal towns slightly further away); it's more that it's a fairly isolated place and a bit run down. It's essentially a commuter village for Sellafield and the potential dangers don't really seem to cross residents' minds.
House prices in the coastal Cumbrian towns/villages are pretty low, but they are generally ex-industrial towns that have seen substantial decline, although many are now having heavy investment.0 -

Edited to add - right on the edge of the Lake District too...some lucky person should snap that up!
You can get an enormous house for your money up there! Although the village isn't exactly the prettiest and transport links are poor, it's a good compromise if you want to be close to the Lakes but still get plenty of property for your money. The beach is lovely these days too0 -

'Griege' being a colloquial term for 'grey and beige' - think low-rent Farrow&Ball with smatterings of low-rent Laura Ashley 'tasteful middle class tat'... You're pretty much bang on with the 'Love' wooden 'objets' :rotfl:
you're well entitled to take a dislike to the conservatory Koi pond - glad to hear you aren't a dyed in the wool Griege enthusiast!
I have to say I think your bathrooms have held up very well - very tasteful / period appropriate, I wouldn't be in a rush to replace them if I were moving in.
Thank you TalluI must confess that we are still fans of that style of bathroom 21 years on and have fitted something similar (free-standing roll top bath etc) in the three houses we've had since, although in this house DH has finally convinced me to have a slightly more contemporary look including a back-to-wall loo - but I got my own way in the main bathroom, lol!
Edited to add - I detest those *wall words* et al too.......Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

Apologies fashionlover, there was honestly no offence intended
We were unfortunate enough to relocate from what we considered a very nice part of Hants to a less than perfect part of Essex (won't name it here - don't want to offend anyone else - but Clacton & Colchester were our nearest large conurbations) and whilst I admit there were some extremely pleasant villages/smaller towns within reach (and I do remember Manningtree as being one of the nicer ones.......but Dedham was our particular favourite
), we were deeply unhappy during our time there.
This was our own fault entirely as we failed to research thoroughly before purchase, but instead fell hook, line & sinker for a gorgeous period house, then to compound the issue we lost out big time financially when we sold three years later........Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

You didn't offend at all! I just thought it was funny how differently two people could feel about the same area. Dedham is lovely, I have to agree.
I actually moved from a less than perfect part of Hants to what I consider to be a lovely part of Essex.0 -
Anyone fancy buying a theme park?
