Thanks guys for your help!
No I mean put your current sims into your old phones ..the W580i'sIt's not just about the money0 -
Alex - Do you read 27bSlash6.com by any chance?
Have you tried any other operator SIMs in the phones yet to see if it's Orange-only issues just to confirm it's not the actual mobiles that are the root of all the issues?
Might be worth grabbing a free sim off O2/Tmobile/Vodafone and seeing if they would work quite happily. If they do then it's clearly Orange being quite bad and not the hardware and would be good to nail down.
Is there any way you can approach Halifax and try to get refunds from those transactions? Maybe tell them the story (I know!) and maybe they can get them reversed?0 -
I half to admit, I got bored halfway through.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0

I can't help with your problem, sorry, but just wanted to say I really enjoyed reading that, you are very funny lol!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0

OK Guys Dad, if you want to get pedantic, I can post my ........ post ........ somewhere else, but if I put it in the 'vent' forum, the 'venters' (or ventees) will complain that it is a forum solely for the purpose of 'venting', "No questions shall be answered here! This is only a 'venting' forum, please post any queries or questions in the 'ask questions' forum." If I then post in the 'ask questions' forum, they will complain that it is a forum exclusively for the purpose of 'asking questions', "There will be no venting here! Please post any spleen venting in the 'venting' forum."
So either way I will be wrong.
Look, I am sorry I posted such a lengthy email, I am sorry if I offended you or bored you to tears, I am sorry I tried asking for advice, but as I stated, I did not force anyone to read my message - it was just a way of blowing off steam and maybe getting some advice in the process. Thankfully there are some people on here who look through the bureaucratic nonsense!
I take your advice about it being unlikely I would get a result due to the length of my message, and in future I will take that on board, your opening sentence was actually quite funny!Originally Posted by Guys Dad View Post

But I was not asking about advice on my phone, so that is why I did not look at some of the posts you suggested and why I did not post my message in any of the other forums!0 -

WHAT?! I loved it... when I saw how long it was I decided to very briefly skim read (knowin that I'd probably be able to fill in any gaps with my own experiences as an Orange customer with problems) but it kept me laughing :-)
OP, I don't think you're being particularly unreasonable, and of course you can ask for whatever you like. I find a reasonably forcefully worded email to the executive office, and push until they cave is usually the best course of action. They offered to cancel all of my contracts I complained so much; unfortunately my credit history prevents me getting on another network, and Orange wanted the handsets back so even PAYG wasn't really an option, so here I sit. I have, however, got £20pm discount on my tariffs, plus all my non-DD fees waived :-)Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0 -
Don't worry about it. You were trying to post an amusing post and maybe I was a bit harsh, so sorry.
Even if it didn't hit my funny button, it did hit others' so you made their day. But the following paragraph from your post I found quite offensive to shopworkers in general and Orange female staff in particular
" I entered the local Orange shop and yet again explained my conundrum to the Shop Assistant. She seemed to understand quite well, didn’t seem to be missing many brain cells and could actually string two sentences together to form some semblance of intelligence and did not have too much dribble trickling down her face.
She quickly telephoned Orange <ahem> Customer Services and informed them of my plight, however, I assume the operator must have asked to speak to myself, because the shop assistant then proceeded to thrust the phone towards my face with gusto, in unison with an incomprehensible Neanderthal-like grunt, which I presumed must have been some sort of complicated mating ritual. In no mood for coitus, I swiftly seized the phone from the gorilla-like fist of the Assistant and........................................."
Given that the assistant was trying to help you, I don't think she deserved that description, even if it was written purely for our amusement.
To get back to your question, certainly the bank card problem should be solved to your satisfaction and if the credit has disappeared into the stratosphere, get your bank to recall the transaction.
But you did end by asking for opinions on whether or not you were being unreasonable, and I read that in conjunction with wanting replacement handsets - and even higher spec as well. That part of your question has, indeed, been covered many times and quite well too0 -
Guys Dad - I am just trying to convey the experience I have personally had with Orange shop assistants in general, this particular time it was a female member of staff I was describing, however this could be any (ok many) generic shop assistants, not limited to Orange/T-Mobile/O2 et al. Granted there are a minority of shops assistants who know EXACTLY their clientele and their subject-matter, but these are very few and far between.
In my original post I was actually quite complimentary about a female Orange shop assistant;-I went into the local Orange shop to complain and the *delightfully helpful* shop assistant proceeded to fiddle and twiddle with my phone, flicking around the well-designed touch-screen as if she were some kind of illegitimate love child of Erno Rubik. It was a sight to behold and she quickly found her way into the settings and changed a few things, such as “only use 2G” etc.
Now, my initial thought was “what is the point of having a 3G phone if you are disabling the 3G on it!?”. I remained silent however, faithfully bowing to her *superior* knowledge.0 -
I actually found that bit condescending and patronising. I can't believe you were so rude to a number of customer service reps, insult those who work in retail (which includes myself) and then expect back pats and cookies. Oh sorry, I'm not pandering to your delicate sensibilities. Ha ha ha you're so funny and witty. Feel better?Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).0

Maybe you might see why I posted my first post then, and why I replied to yours belowEdinburghlass wrote: »No need, not up to you how MSE users' post. If you don't like a thread then please don't bother posting your displeasure, thank you:)0
