Can anyone tell me if Sheffield store is still open?
Thanks0 -
Hi Simon,
well i hope that everything works out for the company,i was an assistant manager in a music zone not 1 that was mvc though but unfortuanatly it closed on the 15th along with 30 others, it was a shock they just came in on the morning and we shut shop straight away and that was that it all happened a bit too quick.
But i think i read somewhere that there was a few buyers interested so hopefully something will come of it i wouldn't want music zone too completely disapear,
well all the best there simon and everyone else who is in the zone.
oh yeah what nice xmas bonus was this simon?0 -
Hey Freddie,
according to the list of stores that closed on monday sheffield was one of them sorry.0 -
Shaz there are all sorts of rumours flying around, we try and find things out, but i honestly think the only ones who know anything are literally the top level, i.e Steve and Nick. Sorry to hear about your shop again, i lost a few friends in the closedowns... as for the bonus, i had to run the shop for all of december due to the manager being off sick and a staff with a max of 3 months experience (and a keyholder on holiday for 5 days of that month as well) :rotfl: so they threw a little extra my way at the end of that one. Much appreciated as well!!0

Always good when a little extra comes your way and it sounds like you deserved it, yeah i agree the top dogs in the biz will be more in the know, sorry to hear about your friends in the company as well, not very much of a start for 2007 but what can you do0

my store was one that was closed down last monday morning, like a previous poster said we just turned up as normal monday morning and ten minutes later we were closed for good.
its good to know that head office staff like rick are communicating through this thread, and trying to clear up a bit of the uncertainty.
But in the 5 years I have worked for Music Zone one thing for sure was that the top guys let staff know what was what, and no matter how high in the company they were they would give you the time of day. With that in mind, the usual head office comunication level had been minimal in recent weeks and a week later there has still been no contact from anyone at MZ to help us through losing our jobs. Obviously the administrators will only allow so much to come out, but as you can imagine a lot of resentment is building up towards a company that we still all enjoyed working for and hope survives through this0 -
Question for Rocket Rick
As a former employee of MZ (my shop was one of the 30 shut last week when a lady from 'de-toilet' came to my shop) can you shed any light on the management buyout rumours? also, any idea why the bid from Fopp was turned down?0 -
artvandelay - u sound a bit bitter there!0

both of my local stores, sheffield and barnsley are now closed. one of the best music and dvd shops ever. sorry for all the people made redundant by thisYou're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0

hey artvandelay,
feelings are the same my end i loved working at music zone and for someone to come in and take it all away in just a few minutes seems so cruel now i'm left job hunting(honestly didn't think i'd be doing this as soon)which is alot harder than i thought it would be but at this time of year when employers are just geting rid of people its not gonna be easy but i'll get there(i hope).
we had a lady from deloitte that evrytime you made eye contact with she'd give you this really symphathetic look which i found annoying because it was so false.0
