Sorry, don't think that would hold. For ANY electrical item you might change a plug - for instance on hi-fi/consoles you might change one to use a multiblock power adaptor, or on anything at all if you damaged the original plug, neither of which should invalidate the warranty... German and UK consoles have exactly the same voltage requirement (because they ARE the same console) so changing the plug over should cause you no warranty issues.

    IMHO, of course

Firstly, can I just say that this forum is supposed to be about helping each other, and sarcasm should be left your side of the pc, not on here. Check the forum etiquette to the right of the screen. Thanks.

Secondly, and more importantly, just to clear the confusion, I contacted Nintendo UK regarding this issue.
I can confirm 100% that if you change the sealed plug unit from a unit that is still under warranty, you will invalidate your warranty.
If you want to check this up, phone 01753483700 and speak to their customer service centre. They are very helpful.

  • If your try getting a wii from amazon.de but they wont ship over here then buy one of the german companies that sell on amazon they will allways ship. I have never had a problem with companies that sell on amazon. My Wii is on the way.

Power leads, you can buy them off ebay for a£10 i think it was so if something does go wrong you still have your original and it hasn't been modified.
  • which company did you order from clarksonwayne?
  • mediastop-hw was who i got it from but now there is another selling them a little cheaper. What you need to do is go on amazon.de and find the wii's then click on new and used, the lay out is the same as the uk site so open the uk site so you can tell what you are clicking on. Make sure its Neu german for new.

I received my wii from amazon.de yesterday morning. Wonder why they are chopping and changing their policy.

I have read on another Forum (but bear in mind this was just internet chatter, not a source) that Amazon in both France and Germany have been under pressure from Nintendo not to ship to the UK. I'm guessing it might be spoiling their marketing strategy to get people frenzied into buying Wii consoles in the run up to Christmas by holding supply back.

As you can see from eBay it works. Although Nintendo don't benefit directly from the increased prices on there, by creating a shortage they ensure that whatever stock there is available is snatched up straight away either by people who actually want the console or by people looking to make a few extra bob by selling on. Either way Nintendo get their money so they don't care. Very quickly the "shortage" becomes news - high prices, queues at stores in the small hours, this Christmas's "must-have" - all extra publicity for Nintendo and it feeds the frenzy further. And it can't be denied that internet forums such as our beloved MSE have played a very important in creating the Wii mosh-pit that we now find ourselves in.

Of course this is all just X-Files speculation - but maybe there's enough there for a new Oliver Stone film!

    Having spent all yesterday morning trying to order from Germany without reading this thread first :mad: I thought you might to read this email I got back from them when I complained;

    Dear Customer

    Thank you for writing to
    Amazon.de.

We are very sorry but we are currently unable to ship item "Nintendo
Wii Konsole - Wii Sports Bundle, white" (ASIN B000UVI1G4) to United
    Kingdom

At present, we deliver the item to Andorra, Belgium, Denmark,
Germany, Finland, France, Greece, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, the
Netherlands, Austria, Sweden and Switzerland. If you have the option
to have it delivered to a dispatch address in one of the mentioned
countries, you may want to place a new order on the website.

We apologize for this inconvenience. Be assured that all of our
customers are important to us, and we are always looking for ways to
    better serve our international customers.

    Thank you for visiting
    Amazon.de.

I am about to reply that I think they are breaking the european treaty - and that I will contact my euro MP - let see that happens!

I can understand people being a bit a peeved off (to put it mildly) that Amazon.de/fr are no longer delivering to UK but I think its pushing it a bit to say they are breaking any laws/treaties.

If you have a store/website then surely you can choose where you want to deliver? Every site can choose where they want to sell to. I'm not breaking the law when I sell on ebay and say I'll only ship to UK.
