Many many many thanks to this site (and lots of you people!) I've managed to get hold of 2 wii consoles - 1 from amazon de (last week) and 1 from play.com (ordered approx. 3 weeks ago delivered this week). I've also got wii play + remote (£39.99) and a nunchuk (£13.49) on the way from Dixons (online).
Do use the link that has been posted here many times before as I'm proof that it really does work (I only started looking for my wii for the kids xmas present 3 weeks agso)

p.s. as I only require 1 wii and I've managed accidently aquire 2 I'm going to be selling 1 to my work colleague, for his son's birthday at the exact price I paid for it - Although I have absolutely no problem with those selling on ebay. . .who doesn't need a little extra cash around this time of year and after all people will only pay what they want to pay for a product (I know I have in the past!)0 -

I thought you might like to see the reply I had:
Dear Customer
Thank you for writing to Amazon.de.
I am very sorry and like to apologize to you that at present we
cannot deliver any Wii consoles to the UK anymore.
Unfortunately, I haven't been told the background information in
detail, but it seems that there has been an agreement between
Amazon.de and Nintendo Deutschland.
Maybe a complaint at these companies or your Euro member of
Parliament may help. I'm not a lawyer to be able to judge if
European market laws are affected by that proceeding.
We apologize for this inconvenience.
So there it is! Nintendo have put pressure on them to stop us from buying them.0 -
If thats the case, Is Nintendo trying to create in UK a baglog and keep prices artificially high?
Why is it UK is having these problems yet Amazon in Germany and France doesn't?researcher wrote: »I thought you might like to see the reply I had:

Sorry for my niavity but i don't understand this.
Surely Nintendo sell the console for the same price to every retailer, give or take the odd fiver for massive corporate ordering. So why not just release 100,000 units into the UK, sell them via the retailers pre xmas and probably sell a few million add-ons (games, accessories, etc). All equating to massive profits.
This situation means that people wanting Wii's are paying ridiculous money for units that Nintendo have already sold.
Do Nintendo actually have units? (Not expecting a true answer no that unless the CEO of Nintendo is an avid MSE fan!) I would suggest not. Why build up a frenzy when there are no (or very few) units available when the demand will definately be less after Christmas as most parents will have to invest their hard earned cash elsewhere to please the kids!
Any thoughts?0 -
I guess this has been asked before, but is Wii play jusst as hard to get hold of ? Is amazon.de delivering them and refusing to deliver the consoles ?0
