    Just got this from them
    Dear Customer

Owing to technical issues on our website over the weekend, the Nintendo Wii
console was made available with a 24 hour despatch estimate.

Unfortunately a substantial amount of orders followed and we are not able
to fulfil demand. In this instance we have had to cancel your order. We
sincerely apologise for any inconvenience that has been caused. Nintendo
Wii is strictly limited in the lead up to Christmas and stock levels are
    outside of our control.

As we have not been able to fulfil your order for Nintendo Wii, any
additional items on the order have also been cancelled, as we want to
ensure that you do not receive games or accessories and not the console
    itself.

You will receive a cancellation confirmation and your order status will
update in the next 2-3 days. Please note you have not have been charged for
your order. Any monies confirmed are where your bank has pre authorised the
amount pending order completion. On cancelling the order, your bank should
    release the funds.

Once again, we would like to sincerely apologise for any inconvenience
    caused.

    Kind Regards,

    Customer Services

A little ironic that last bit dont you think?

Finally got mine from Dixons, after it being delivered by the idiots at DHL to the right house number and street but in the wrong town and going back to the depot then coming back out for delivery today to the right address after about 5 phonecalls to the depot over the weekend to try and explain whats happened but package was completely ripped open once i got it, everything ok with contents though but the packaging leaves a lot to be desired.

I usually insist on not giving the dixons group any of my money as I think they are XXXX but had to go against my better judgement this one time to get a Wii.
  • Oh s**t

Just read some posts and i ordered a wii on the virgin site on saturday, but have not had the email others have had,

Do you think they had some and will honour them?

    Advice would be welcome.

I live in Ely cambridgeshire so if any one has some points of where there are some i would be most grateful as the hunt continues,

amazon.de (German) has got some for sale, the cheapest is 220 euros which is about £160, you should not have any problems ordering from there, you will however have to get a plug convertor

be careful if you plan to buy form amazon.fr as they may be secam machines

    good luck

Alternate thanks button pressed for 1st comment not second - my comment about stock shortages- yes I do understand business thank you and I thought it would be a shoot yourself in the foot manoeuvre. However whatever the reason after a year of production you would think that this wouldn't happen - do you know the real reason for the shortage then?
There really is no need to be snotty on this thread. There is far too many smart ar@es around on these forums at the moment, but hey if you feel bigger by trying to belittle someone else.

chill mate. wasn't really aimed ay you - it is just everyone seems to think that it is a strategy when really holding back stock would be business suicide. Sure they will try to put a positive spin on it but that is just making the best of a bad situation.

The supply problem is that only so many componants can be made at once as they are reliant on companies like IMB who I believe make the GPU chips. Also they are feeding the US market first. The US snaps up 400-500 thousand wiis a month and it can still be hard to find in major cities. Here in the UK it took them about 6 months to sell half a million consoles. It has been like this since launch pretty much - whereas here it was quite easy to get one until about a month ago.
