I have just received this email from Virgin Megastore:

Dear Customer

Owing to technical issues on our website over the weekend, the Nintendo Wii
console was made available with a 24 hour despatch estimate.

Unfortunately a substantial amount of orders followed and we are not able
to fulfil demand. In this instance we have had to cancel your order. We
sincerely apologise for any inconvenience that has been caused. Nintendo
Wii is strictly limited in the lead up to Christmas and stock levels are
outside of our control.

As we have not been able to fulfil your order for Nintendo Wii, any
additional items on the order have also been cancelled, as we want to
ensure that you do not receive games or accessories and not the console
itself.

You will receive a cancellation confirmation and your order status will
update in the next 2-3 days. Please note you have not have been charged for your order. Any monies confirmed are where your bank has pre authorised the
amount pending order completion. On cancelling the order, your bank should
release the funds.

Once again, we would like to sincerely apologise for any inconvenience
caused.

My payment is sitting in my bank account frozen as a pending outgoing payment, I can't even look elsewhere for a Wii because until they issue a formal refund I have no money to buy one.

What annoys me more is that I could have went into the shop today and bought one, my Sister was in the shop today and was told that every store in the country had received a delivery of 20 and the Virgin Megastore in Glasgow still had some in stock late this afternoon.

I think on principal I will look elsewhere for one, even if they do have them in stock in future.

I was quite fortunate on Saturday, I walked into a GAME store and picked one up. It appears people think that GAME will always be out of stock so they dont ask for one EVEN though their is a big board saying NINTENDO WII in stock.

Bloody idiots.....to think they have a vote!

I ordered one from Comet this morning but just got an email stating:

"We are sorry, but one or all of the products you have selected has become temporarily out of stock in your area. A Specialist will contact you by telephone within 24 hours to discuss either the date your product is due into our warehouse, or offer you an alternative product. "

I like the job title "Specialist"!

So I'm not holding out any hope for this one. Instead I tried woolworths and I have received an email confirmation, so maybe this one will come through... I'll wait and see what happens.

Meantime it's still showing in stock at the moment with the message "Should be delivered on or before Friday 19th October 2007"
