Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 4th August 2011. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Hello x
Hope you are all doing ok. I have been up hours and very much fear that Black Dog has caught up with me again. Im going to see the GP tonight so hopefully some meds and my little white dogs can chase it away quickly.
RedRuby - Hope your Dad is comfortable and not too distressed x
I will try and keep posting but will be reading so sending you my love x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Good morning. I'm new here so popping on to say hi and taking the time to read round the other threads. Sooo much inspiration and ideas on here! (And I'm only loooking at OS!) I've got a meeting to go to at the other end of the county later today - my only saving grace is the pool car scheme at work so I don't have to pay for the fuel up front! It'll be a looooong day though - living here in Cornwall is fantastic, but August is pretty manic on the roads so getting anywhere takes twice as long as normal.

Hope everyone has a good day. I'll be back to say hi again tomorrow.

Welcome SoniaJM, I hope you have an uneventful journey.
Lot's of rain here, so no need to water the garden today.
Plans for today include doing my roots & baking cakes & biscuits for hubby's cleaning team.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Welcome SONIAJM, love Cornwall, it's one of my favourite places in the world

MOLLY hugs hun, hope you feel better soon.

Am up early to go up to London to see my Aunt, have calmed down a bit now which is just as well as an irate approach isn't going to get us anywhere. Not much OS going here today other than taking a packed lunch and a flask of coffee.

Have a good day all and hugs to those who need one.

Good Morning everyone and <<hugs >> to those in need.Weather is a bit damp at the moment which is nice because its cooled the air down a tad.Today I am taking a couple of bags of crafting bits and bobs and my nice new craft book around to my DGS house as the weather is not very bright and we shall be making something 'crafty' Only 10 more days to go until our holiday.so I must keep the little guys amused and happy.
Very little shopping needed thank goodness and I am running down my fresh food stores at the moment. Eldest DD is home today from their holiday so I may get her dropping in tonight as she has a pile of books for me from her hols that she has read,so I may save them to read on mine.
Hope everyone has a great day whatever you are doing
    Take care all

    Morning everyone

Wet here and still steadily raining, has got rid of the awful humidity though, didn't need to water the garden last night and won't need to this morning either. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.

Dinner last night went down well and tonight I have menu planned chicken in mushroom sauce with HM special fried rice and roasted peppers stuffed with couscous, HM bread to accompany, ice cream/lemon drizzle cake for dessert. Friend came over with her son yesterday afternoon, nice chat and coffee.

Have started menu planning for next week, have a couple of days sorted but need to get my head in the freezer to see what else is lurking as the small outside one is almost full to the brim with what - I don't really know!! Really need a cheap shop this week as funds are rather stretched so am trying to use as much from the storecupboard as possible, last week I signed back up for the Grocery Challenge and am keeping check on what I spend.

Collected the boys yesterday after work, nice to have them home. Am going for a haircut first thing this morning, then I'll come back home collect the boys and go and do the school shoe shop - want to get this out of the way. I also just need 2 pairs black trousers for DS2 and his school t-shirts (can't buy cheap white polo shirts - they have school logo on the arm and that's all they will accept!! and of course they cost more for 1 than a pack of 3 plain white ones!!),:mad:I do have 2 school sweatshirts that I bought for DS1 that he didn't wear and his pe t-shirt and pe shorts, so realistically it's not that bad, and none of it has barely been worn. :T

Eldest had some new t-shirts part way through the year so doesn't really need any new one's but will check, and he may need a new pair of trousers.

If I can organise myself need to do small pile of ironing and the housework, needs to be done even if only a quick once over.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning all, need to get more milk this morning from Mr T, so will be taking boys for breakfast (bribe!!) and then get milk and fresh veg / fruit. Today its cloudy here (very low cloud) and I have loads of washing to do - wet beds last night again! So will have to use the dryer for the duvet. Today we're spending time cleaning up the house as it looks like a bomb has hit. Will have to make it fun - so might get a bag of sweets and bribe the boys. Perhaps we can do it before the timer goes off or something - lots of loud music to get the boys motivated - unfortunately they like the crazy frog - aaaagggghhhhhhhh

If I don't post tomorrow you know why!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Raining in London which suits me fine! I got back from a week in Kefalonia late wednesday night and found it nearly as hot here which was a shock. Luckily tomato plants had survived and other garden veggies were ready for picking so had bbq pork chops with home grown salads for supper - yum!
Off to Ikea today for new curtains then plan to spend the rest of the day sewing in fleece linings to prep for winter.
Molly - sorry you've hit a low atm, but you will climb out again so stay strong hun.
    Welcome Sonia :)
Hugs to all and have a great day everyone xx

    Good Morning All,

Tired and weary and :j:j:j:j excited in Glasgow this morning. The big day ir tomorrow and I am sooooooo excited / nervous / hyper / worried - its just as well I am already married otherwise I don't think I could go through my own wedding, my nerves would be shattered. I have not managed to get any of the things done I was meant to yesterday because I had no car and had to rely on my youngest sister for help, which meant everything took four times a slong, so I will be like a whirling dervish today. just making tablet for the favours (ran out of vanilla and never noticed, so OH went to Mr T this morning for me :A ) Then at nine I am off to M & S to collect the cake - I didn't think I would have time to make one, and am glad I made that decision tbh - then home to do my hair, beauty salon / boys hair trim at 11.30, home to decorate the cake and finish the favours, clean the house and collapse in a heap.

My sister has become a nervous wreck, its quite funny to see, she's usually the really stoic one :D BIL didn't have his chemo this week again, although this time it was because his consultant said he was happy to have him miss it, so he could enjoy the wedding without being so exhausted etc. He is looking happy but tired, I just hope he has a lovely day and likes everything we have planned for rhem.

My lovely friend from work is coming over to do my sister's makeup in the morning, and she is going to the venue to decorate the tables for me, with one of the other girls - how kind is that? I am very lucky to have such kind supportive friends on here, and IRL, and my sister has benefitted too from all that kindness and goodwill. Thanks to you lot too, you are :A

The wedding is at 11.15am tomorrow, and I don't imagine I will be here during the day, so I will check in tomorrow night when I am home, and will upload some pics to FB through the day from my phone to keep those of you who are interested up to date.

Hugs to Molly, give that black dog a kick up the arris from me, and please try to keep posting, even if its just a hello, it will help keep him at bay a little. xxx

Still thinking about redruby's dad and family, hope he recovers well. xxx

Dazi I hope your wedding on Saturday goes really well, and you have a lovely day, and a good holiday.

Hugs spoons and hi fives and positive vibes all round!
