Hi Bargain Rzl, I'm not too far away either, now living in Walworth. I lived in Peckham for quite a while, and the market at Rye Lane is pretty good for fruit and veg. There's a farmers market on sundays at the square in front of the library http://www.lfm.org.uk/peckham.asp which is a good place for meat etc. Kennedy's sausages (Camberwell Green) are great for sausages and bacon, the kind that doesn't shrink or ooze foamy water. I think they're opening a branch of Moxon's fishmongers on Lordship Lane, Dulwich, and they're really good. Have you been to the Oriental Supermarket at Camberwell Green, opposite McDonalds? They might be cheaper than the one in Peckham near Morrisons, as they're cheaper. Hope this helps!2015 comp wins - £370.25

The organic farmers market down in Clapham Park is worth a trip on the 45, on a Sunday. Cheap, healthy and they cook up wild boar sausages
Yum!

Are any of the south-eastern people coming along to the informal OS meet in feb? Although from the sounds of it there are enough of us to have a mini-meet anyway!2015 comp wins - £370.25

Really, I thought it might be really expensive being Clapham? Which is why I never tried it yet.
I am in Stockwell so kind of on the border of SE London although my postcode is SW (a five minute drive from Camberwell).
There is a really good and friendly fish monger on the Wandsworth road (the stockwell end).
There are quite a few Sarf Londoners here aren't there!0 -
There are a few Saaf Londoners here! It's very reassuring. I'm up at the Elephant & Castle and find Borough Market a bit expensive so these reccomendations are gold dust. Please keep them coming (and if anyone knows where to get Stardrops nearby please let me know!) please!:D
I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...
I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!0 -

Ah East Lane:D I haven't been there for over forty years. I used to live in Nutbrook Street Goose Green, which is at the top of Rye Lane when I first got married in 1963
I bet Jones & Higgins is long gone ,it was terrific for curtain material.
Deptford High Street market was good on a Saturday morning. But the real treat was to go to Petticoat Lane on a Sunday morning .Just to watch the traders there was an experience in excellent selling techniques:rotfl: I miss the London Street markets living out in the wilds of North Kent .I am lucky enough to live where there is still a wet-fish shop and a proper greengrocers though, and a bakers that bake on the premises. Tesco's have the monoploy in my village for supermarkets though.0 -

Don't forget ................. if you go to Lewisham, to go into Boots!
Very good for 'Bootsing' and the staff are really helpful and nice (except on the photo counter, they will never do the offers/blags).
I love the fruit and veg in the market there, the 99p store and Primark.
The butchers that has all the cheap nasty looking meat outside (near Boots), has very nice fresh meat inside. They are helpful as well, if you want them to roll, bone or a special cut they will do it for you while you are shopping, then just call back in on the way home for it.
LLWe are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars........................0
