What a pathetic argument, when I used to work for a electrical retailer 20% of the laptops we repaired were Hp. but 30% of the sales of laptops were HP....let me know if your having problems with the maths there

I'm sorry, again you don't have a clue on the facts...... How many HP's have killed people then over the last couple of years ?

15 or 16 like beko ? All because of poor design ?

Thanks for the article but I dont see any pictures of a burnt down house, I just see a half burnt kitchen. These are a couple of fridges which have had the problem, the majority have caused scorching as confirmed by Beko.

Yeah cos beko are going to give it to you straight aren't they, if it was a simple case of slight scorching then they would not be spending all this cash out on modifying so many appliances.

Is it me, or has this thread been hijacked and gone totally off topic? Just wondering...

Cooker expert seems to have gone out of control over the op's original message. Better to ignore now and let him vent his fustrations on the correct thread or just go to another site.

Why? you're just as guilty of hijacking this thread as he is.

Personally though, I can certainly understand his frustration of having the experience to back up his assertions only to have them shot down in a volley of insults by posters who resort to pedantry of the most petty sort, whose only objective is to score points, as opposed to freely giving people the benefit of his experience and knowledge.

But cooker expert went completly off subject, the op wanted information about a fitting price of a kitchen. At no point did they want to discuss beko products and I only said they have good ratings which they do.

We recently bought a kitchen from Howdens. Howden's came and measured and did an estimate which went to the builder. The builder was happy for the estimate to come to us. The estimate breaks down the items purchased right down to the handles etc. We found Howdens very good for units etc but found they were very expensive for appliances, sinks, Taps etc. Their worktops are not cheap either compared to Wicks etc but due to unit sizes their work tops are 616mm whilst wicks etc tend to 600mm. It also depends on the discount they are offering which can be anything up to 80% for units and a bit less ie 60-70% for appliances worktops etc.

The best thing to do in my opinion is getting a quote from other places and then go from there. Wickes do 50-65% off sales most of the time but we found they still came out about £700 more than Howdens for a 10 units. We paid about £1700 for 10 units from their middle of 3 ranges of quality with the worktop etc. We did not buy the sink, taps or appliances from them.

One good thing about Howdens is they have most things in stock so you can get your kitchen in a couple of days if you wish and this means thatt if things are missing you only tend to have to wait a day to get replacements.

I think they're at it. Trade prices should be just that. A price that's set.

If a trade customer asks for a large sash and case window and a small window, he is charged the same price for both. Regardless of handles, insulation, astrigals. With the exception of double glazed and oak hardwood types, which only a small increase in the price.

If you work in any industry, genuine trade prices will vary. I used to sell baby shoes and there were several different prices for the quantities ordered. One price for one pair, half that price for twenty plus pairs, other prices for higher quantities and then another price altogether for big or prestigious names with bargaining power like John Lewis who would name their own price, take or leave it!

We get better prices from one branch of Jewson than others. It's not unusual at all. If people find prices too high then they should walk with their feet! Even retail prices for the same thing in different shops is different. We all understand the need to shop around.

If a store allows you to haggle, it makes sense that there isn't actually one set price. It depends upon yoyr haggling skills!
