    Thanks again all.

Fitter is going to get a broken down price list for the Howdens to me as soon as he can. Meanwhile, I am getting lots of other quotes for supply and then separately for trades and fitting. I think it's going to work out cheaper for me to source the components separately, then manage separate trades as they are required as mine isn't a straightforward 'dry fit'. This also means I can pay for 'bits' to be done separately, which will be easier on my pocket!

It's what I do as well. I've bought goodness knows how many Howdens kitchens (and other brands too) but I almost always buy just the units from them. It does make the budget stretch further and it's much easier to compare the prices you're given and therefore haggle when they are for exactly the same thing - ie. just furniture.

There are so many appliances, sinks, taps, worktops etc out there that there isn't a need to be tied to one retailer. It's nice to have exactly what you want. Howdens don't offer wide choice and they aren't competitive on appliances. I find what I like in the shops or online but then compare prices to find the absolute best deal. I found appliance city, an online retailer will beat any price you get and offer a further discount for buying all your appliances through them :) Sinks I often buy from eBay, I've had some proper bargains of brand new, brand name sinks and taps that have just ended up in people's garages!

It does take extra time to buy from other places too, but for me it's worth it to get exactly what you want for your budget. It was when I started breaking it down that I realised where the savings were to be made.

    Good Luck to you :)

I said Beko have very good ratings - look on google shopping and you will see. Ok Howdens have a lot of stock so you return the same day if the customer changes their mind or their are problems in fitting.

The Beko recall affects a very small proportion, and they are not going to burst into flames...a bit dramitic, it is a overheating of the thermostat which could result in slight scorching.

at least a quarter of my repairs every week are beko products, again I see a different side of things to you, the components used inside are cheap and poor and this is why they break so much, please go try posting on the uk whitegoods forums and try telling them that beko have good ratings but be prepared for humiliation, myself I shouldn't really call beko that much as i make a good living from them, I haven't though known any other make have so many deadly products out there, it's scary.

On the Howdens front, it's not too different to B+Q but they'll deliver a new one next day usually without you having to haul yourself down there.

I am just having a switch of kitchen. Using doors etc from Howdens but like others I have no idea of how much things cost. I only bought a sink taps fridge cooker hood. I must admit I am not happy at not knowing just how much everything cost. I would not do it again. I would not ever buy anything without pricing around but for once I have not listened to my gut instinct.
It would have been cheaper too have a new kitchen fitted as now it has been endless labour costs and I am not finished yet. Bit of a blip in how much was paid to Howdens. Delivery said less money than what the cost on the estimate, The Joiner has done a lot of work for me previously and he does a really good job. It is coming in well over my budget as changes have been made and extra work needed.
We live and learn and at the end of the day when it is finished I am sure that I will just put it all behind me.

Incorrect again, why do you try and tell me my industry ?, the whole recall was sparked by more than one house burning down, and it's not a thermostat it's a timer sticking. (over 500'000 btw)

A whole house burnt down??? you like to over react, so you visit 40 kitchen a week and repair fridges 1/4 of your time but you dont fit kitchens. So when you need a different unit Howdens will more likely to have it, B&Q youve got to wait the next day... no good if youve got a customer wanting the kitchen fitted within days just like you told them. My source of good ratings are from a shopping site from customers who have bought them and not the white goods forum.

No, if you could read properly you would note that I put more than one house burnt down.

I haven't said anywhere that I fit kitchens myself, your eyesight must be terrible, I haven't said either that I repair fridges though I do have C&G parts 1 and 2 in refrigeration and air conditioning, my former employers and collegues have the contract for the beko modifications.

And what's the rush for needing the unit that day ? There's plenty of other things to be done so it's hardly a worry.

Your source of ratings is also as useless as they come, a review of a product you have bought is fine at the time, it's a couple of years down the line when you need to worry, this is when I start to make serious money from them, beko's are by far the most common appliance I repair, but hey if people want to take your advice who obviously knows nothing, it won't bother me as the money will keep on coming in to my business

Funny as I can't remember you being correct once, incorrect on the time to build a unit, incorrect on the beko ff fault, and most certainly incorrect when trying to say beko are a decent make........ Not a clue.
