Confused about Howden's Pricing!
Comments
-
Howdens are for trade only for a reason. If you want to compare prices then compare them with B&Q, Homebase, Wickes etc. Howdens are much better quality and are prebuilt so you cannot compare. For example it takes 0.5 > 1 hour to build a unit so at Howdens you are saving about 2 days in labour for a typical kitchen, £150 per day = £300.
I don't want to compare with the sheds. I've seen for myself that Howdens units are better quality than Wickes/B&Q etc. What I want, is to know what a sink or worktop or tap from Howdens is going to cost me (for example). I am perfectly capable of comparing like with like from that point onwards.0 -
Howdens can requote without certain items such as sinks, yes these can be more expensive. Cooker expert - milliebear has seen for herself? Units take longer when you count the time needed to prep, eg get tools out. Sorry I dont agree, Howdens are bonded, others are using screws which the fitter can mess up.0

Sorry, do you go to around 40 kitchen fits a week like me ?
........yeah, thought not.0 -
Milliebear herself has already agreed 'I've seen for myself that Howdens units are better quality than Wickes/B&Q etc' answers my question0

milliebear, Howdens do quote with an individual breakdown of prices - in fact it's the only way they quote! It's your fitter that's refusing to show you.
Try speaking to them. Be nice but tell them you can't be buying one of their kitchens unless you see a quotation. They might help.
No doubt though that £2500 is too much for a five unit kitchen!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Cooker expert, it's milliebear buying the kitchen. I don't visit 40 kitchen fits a week either, but we are all entitled to our own opinions.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

It doesn't matter what you "think" it's a fact that Howdens kitchens are no better than b+q and wickes, it doesn't matter that Howdens cupboards are pre made ether, they are no more solid than the competitions when screwed together, then to the wall and worktop.Milliebear herself has already agreed 'I've seen for myself that Howdens units are better quality than Wickes/B&Q etc' answers my question
What do you actually think is better ? I and all the fitters i know would take a Cooke and Lewis over a Howdens any day of the week, I have installed for fitters from the top (Mark Wilkinson, Osbourne kitchens 100k+ etc) to one man band local fitters, the opinion most have about Howdens is that they are average, and don't even get me started on the absolutely awful Lamona appliances....... I think the word "garbage" would pretty much universally apply to that range of products, the range cookers for example are merely rebadged beko's.0 -
Two of us disagree, millie is buying and she is the customer. She must have compared the same range so it does not matter if you have fitted 100k kitchens, if think you have the wrong forum. Beko have very good ratings so I dont think that is a very good arguement. The issue is the fitter is overcharging0

Thanks again all.
Fitter is going to get a broken down price list for the Howdens to me as soon as he can. Meanwhile, I am getting lots of other quotes for supply and then separately for trades and fitting. I think it's going to work out cheaper for me to source the components separately, then manage separate trades as they are required as mine isn't a straightforward 'dry fit'. This also means I can pay for 'bits' to be done separately, which will be easier on my pocket!0 -

So you haven't heard about the massive recall for their fridge/freezers bursting into flames ? Or the gas grills that have actually had fatalities ?
Beko are Strictly budget appliances and in cooking especially are very poor, and can't hold a candle to the likes of range master on either quality or cooking performance.
Btw, I'm still waiting to hear what is actually "much better" about Howdens ?0
