tesco voucher use. HELP!!!!! (long)

I can see why you got carried away. Has anybody else ever had a letter from Tescos. Others have reported saving huge amounts with Sainsbury vouchers, quick reads etc. One person posted about a cashier who was told off for selling 100 pounds worth of gift cards using quick reads. I know in my local Tesco one lad said he had been told of for excepting too many coupons.0

I don't agree that it's a fraudulent act. They are trying to scare you, and I think it is very sharp practice indeed to send such threatening letters to their customers.
Tesco invited you to make an offer on your trolley full of shopping. You offered them some pieces of paper instead of cash. They accepted them.
Simple.
If they have an issue with anyone, then it's their member of staff.
You could have offered to pay in buttons, and they could have have accepted this method of payment if they'd wanted to.
It was silly of their SA to accept so many coupons, but it was NOT fraud on your part.0 -
Please post how you get on and good luck0

This highlights why so many of the supermarkets are clamping down on coupons,we all love to save money, but in my opinion this is way over the top.
Not if they *asked* for them. That is their problem not the OP's.
It's exactly the same as if you had gone in and filled your trolley and then got to the checkout and they said 'how about you just give me a quid for it all'. You'd give them the quid. He asked for vouchers, he got vouchers.

wow i know i use coupons but how the heck did you get that much in coupons? i think i hit the jackpot if i get a tenner of my weekly shop

sorry i cant advise but good luckx
do you still have your reciepts?? if so it will tell them who the cashier was but they should already know this as they gave you an exact time they should be telling of the cashier really tell them that he said it was fine and happily scanned all the coupons and then you asked if it was ok to do another shop and use the rest of the coupons and he said yes thats fine."You have succeeded in life when all you really want is only what you really need"
live simply so that others may simply live

I agree, it was down to the till op who took payment, you would of had a reciept saying everything was fully scanned/ paid for, be it with cash or coupons and they accepted that with no problems.
I'd write back, they are trying to scare you but there is nothing they can do, they accepted payment at the time and that is that.
Good luck.2 angels in heaven :A0 -
Allthough paying 67p for a £137 shop seems to be taking the pee a little bit (even the OP must admit that), at the end of the day it is Tesco's error.
Saying that though, if people continue to take the pee, then it will spoil it for everyone.......
I love using vouchers too, but wouldn't go that far, it just draws to much attention to yourself. I do lots of small shops, so I can use lots of vouchers, rather than give a million vouchers over in 1 transaction.

Hello Rickshaw and all ...
Not a nice wake up call to say the least ... I would agree in part with ella' ... do call them or go in to see the manager having made an appointment ... explain that the coupons were accepted ... and I assume accepted previously ... and that you had not realised that you were committing any fraudulant act! ... very strange phrase and I would say wholly inappropriate as Tesco do accept vouchers ... I would not however apologise for using the coupons ... but do be polite and straight forward ....
Ask again if they do accept vouchers on goods not purchased to clarify ... if they say no or a certain amount ... ask them if they could put this in writing for you .... (they were very quick to put the other in writing!) ...
I would also contact Head Office in writing explaining that as all your vouchers were accepted by an SA you had assumed everything was ok ... and how upset you are to receive a letter of such content .... Also you should point out how long you have been a customer, etc ....
This said ... £137 in coupons is a lot in anyones book .... and this may be the shape of things to come for some 'big' coupon users ... that phrase makes me think of that man with the big mobile phone ...:rotfl: .... you have not done anything against their policy ... but you have run it right to its extreme and unfrotunately yeilded the result ...
Happy New Year .... and remember there are worse things that could happen than a letter from Tescolditz! ....
