I have spoken to my friend whose mum used to work at that store, and they cannot believe that the person named would do such a thing. For one it could land her in serious deep trouble and two she believes that such a letter would come from the store manager rather than a checkout supervisor.

I believe it was a bad joke that just caused OP some upset. But I would be interested to hear if OP has heard anymore ?

Another thought, now that there is a copy of this letter on the site I bet that someone from the store is already aware of our discussions and has indeed read a copy of the letter. There are lots of Tesco staff out there who read this site and by showing the address I am sure that someone will have mentioned it by now in store.
