I wonder that as well _ I've currently got 2 certificates through the OU - Cert. APS (Open) and Cert. NatSci (Open) - and another 2 which will be complete soon. What order do they go in ? One of the cert's will be accountancy, so I woulld probably use that first anyway..I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

Have you completed the accountancy course, if so can I ask what did you think of it? Do you need to know a lot about accountancy before commencing this course?0 -
Iam in the final module of the course. Ive done one exam and the next 2 are together at the end of the course on October.
The course is hard but its very good . You don't need to have any preparatory knowledge but it would do no harm.
They issue you with a preparatory course cd in basic bookkeeping and then guide you through as the first module - second module is management accounting/auditing and the third module is business law and management.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. I am in the process of signing up for the accountancy course which commences in September 2008. How many hours a week would you recommend is needed to complete the course? Are the exams difficult?0 -
It's supposed to take between 12 and 16hrs or so per week but that can vary depending on how effective your studying is and which book your studying that point - each module has 4-5 books and a cd - but many of the early books are quite straight forward.
The exams aren't too bad , you have to get 40% or more to pass each module, in addition you have to get over 40% in each of the 3 marked assignments.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. Can I ask do you currently work in accountancy or have you previously as I don't and I am worried that I may not be up to completing this course?0 -
I've never worked in accountancy - at the moment I work in Council Tax.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. Yesterday I got the results of one of the courses I took with the OU and I have passed. I am waiting on the results from another OU course I took and the results should be available at the beginning of August. If I pass that course as well I will get my second certificate from the OU and more letters behind my name. Which way is the letters supposed to come behind your name, Jo4 certificate 1 & certificate 2 or Jo4 certificate 2 & certificate 1?
I know this isn't really important but I am just curious.
I passed the second course an therefore I should get my second certificate with the OU. :j  :rotfl:0
