ok so there's about 2 days to go on this.
Is anyone getting any further?
I skimmed through the book again and the only thing thats making me think is to work backwards - ie take a character and see what would fit...Still coming up blank, but I was thinking maybe it was Midas, or his daughter, rather than one of the humans in the book...Simply because...well...to be fair to the writer..its not really character driven
Unfortunately I don't have the book with me now, so I guess this is a pass (I love cracking codes too)0 -
Perhaps somebody who has the book could list all of the characters and we can work backwards? Something might twig.
Thanks for all the efforts so far.0 -
Giving it a final bump - I have a feeling puzzle 6 is as follows:
First number is the question, Second is the answer and third is the letter. So for 1-2-3; question 1, answer 2, letter 3...... we have 51 which is U for that puzzle..... bit confused about puzzle four as that is the only one with 10 answers in (all the rest have 5 - in a way).
So, I'm left with UEASCHGGSRUA - which hasn't got me far. As someone said, hundreds of possible answers. I did use the anagram thing shown earlier in the thread, and asked for "USES" to be included, with that it came up with two solutions of "USES RAGA CHUG" and "USES AGAR CHUG" - not sure if that means anything?
Then I noticed someone suggest "It's all Greek to me" - and thought about swapping the letters for those of the Greek alphabet. But couldn't find anything to help me make words. If anyone does speak Greek, now would be a fab time to come and help
Otherwise, I think this'll be just one of those comps that gets away
If we can't manage to solve it, I for one shall be asking for the solution, just so I can sleep
Fingers crossed someone can helpThanks to all posters :A0 -

:T:jThank you to all the competition posters, you are all brilliant! :j:T0 -
Have to admit I'm hoping for inspiration from you guys!! I solved the clues and got the anagram, the Greek bit may mean it's a description of Archimedes or (at a pinch) Midas. But I must admit to still being foxed. I've read through the book several times and am still none the wiser.0
