    the clue is:

    THE MIDAS CODE = 1-1-55-3-43-4-52-2-52-5-43-2-72-1-23-1-12-4-31-5-43-2-72-3-2

Yerp solved that. But there is still something wrong with my anagram. It could be question 4. sigh. help for discretionary - split it into sets of 3 numbers. Then reapply to find solution.

ok I'm being dense here - I already split into groups of 3 numbers but getting nowhere. lol
    Do you mean eg
    115
    534
    etc...?

Ok - Ignore - got it!
  • Going back to my sequences in #36, these correspond exactly with discretionary clues 1 and 3 based on line number column number.

Discretionary clue 2 gives Book Title.
Discretionary clue 5 gives Midas Code
Discretionary clue 4 has 'midas' in 'amid a series of letters' leaving 15 letters if you take midas out - another 5 by 3 arrangement??

    Any of that help?

if I just take the letters that follow from the discretionary clue, I can't make sense of the anagram. However, it does contain the letters ex rmy, almost spelling ex army, and those letters are all from puzzle 2. Can't make sense of the remaining six letters though, but don't know if it might be on the right track or if it's a coincedence.
  • ok..arrange the groups of 3 numbers.

    115, 534, 345, etc then rearrange each number as 2nd, 1st and 3rd numbers. so these become 115, 354, 435 etc.

Then use these numbers to find the letters from puzzles 1-5. The discretionary clue will help you identify whether your answers are correct in puzzles 1-5.

no it doesn't. no x anyway. not that I can figure.
  • I have no X either, athough I can make ARMY from my letters. It will be obvious when you have the correct twelve letters, there is a neat confirmer.
