i can use internet on the blackberry at my home using the home router, no? (without any addon)
if not, it would be a one off cost? or monthly ongoing?
That is the third time that you are asking the same question.
AFAIK = As far as I know.
Monthly ongoing, £5 per month.0 -
stilltheone wrote: »No, AFAIK you need BIS for that. For what are you paying £15? I thought the Simplicity 300 tariff was £10.
yes i pay £15 per month, rolling monthly contract.
it may be cheaper now, ill have to check again.0 -

Perhaps more expensive because it is a rolling monthly. I remember it being £10 for 12 months.
So £15 may have included BIS bolt on and solved your problem.0 -

£5 per month JUST to use my home wi fi connection sucks i would say.
i pay over £20 for home broadband using my landline....
other phones just use that for free with no addded cost....0 -
You can get a Blackberry tariff with 300 minutes and unlimited texts for £18.50, but no picture messages included. 100MB of data included. Generally enough for email and messaging. You can send your pictures etc via your home WiFi if you want to save your data allowance.

sigh.....this is all a bit complicated.0 -
thankyou stilltheone (and everyone else)
"You can send your pictures etc via your home WiFi if you want to save your data allowance. "
this is what i want to do first, not use data allowance as i dont have one, it should allow me to use my home wi fi.....ill have to test this, but others have said i need add on to do this even....
i think ill get it unlocked first, see how it goes, then reserach what to do...sim deal wise....0 -

You will have a data allowance if you get the BB tariff suggested above.
You just don't have to use it. If you don't get the BB tariff, you probably won't be able to use your email with or without WiFi.
Are you reading and digesting the replies or just hoping for the best?
The phone needs to be unlocked and O2 software installed. Otherwise links will point to Orange instead of O2 when you use your O2 SIM.
From where did you obtain your BB Curve?0 -
update: i logged onto my home wi fi, with the original invalid orange sim, it worked, browser and
internet worked. so i guess it should work once the o2 sim is in there.
if internet works that means email works, surely. theres diff ways to email on phone, eg browser or client based....maybe one works and the other not, that being the add on thing.
i dont understand why i would need a data allowance sim deal, if im only wanting to use my home wi fi system.
why does it need o2 software installed?
i think it will work fine after its unlocked....i dont care about 02 links or orange links, i never use those things.
it was a gift from someone who has bought a new phone.0 -
To use the BIS outside of home, so BBM etc, you'd need a BIS add on, O2 change £5 per month for this.
As regards for unlocking your orange handset, give customer services a call (number below), and they'll unlock it for £20.25.
