Woo!!! but a small one
BOE has held base rate at 0.5% again - not good news for those of you with savings I'm afraid - but it means we live to fight another month - throwing every penny into the pot against rate rises here.

Grrrr my soup went pop in my bag. So - yucky mess, and money spent on lunch (twice!) Boo!
But hurrah to interest rate hold. May it last for another 19 years I say0 -
just de-lurking to wish Helen all the best with the land purchase - how exciting and what a great example of thinking out of the box and doing something different to get what you want! :j I look forward to reading more about it!
great news on the current account MG - and I'm another one glad of the rate hold.
good luck Marru with exploring all the options - hope all is much more settled for you soon.0 -
I have reached the point of the year when all I want to do in the afternoon is to stick my head under my duvet - so reached for my trusty timer and have spent 15 minutes transferring milk and crackers into store cupboard (I have been climbing over them for what, a week now?)
Another 15 minutes and a quick hoover and dust and my bedroom is magically transferred into a boudoir again. The duvet is still calling me but I feel marginally better
Might just run the hoover around the livingroom before putting it away again and then that sofa is MINE!!!!

 hello one and all. I am sorry I have been AWOL but I am back.
Just tried to catch up but "by heck you lot can talk/cook/clean/freegle/sew/knit and support each other" so too much to read. I did work out that MG is off on one of her epic "If I need it I can do it myself" adventures - well done on getting started but be careful of your back Missy.
Helen - how exciting. Get reading Cold Antler Farm blog for ideas about your own blog
Marru, sorry I havent worked out exactly what you are up to but it sounds quite exciting if you are returning "home"
Not a lot to report from me. Will probably not be posting as much here as I have a new resolution to reduce my internet usage as 3 weeks detox was a real revelation to me. I will drop in though and post when I feel like I have something to say (for that read "put my tuppence worth in")
New thread? Already? I like the suggestion (sorry cant remember who) Matrix - Here come the girls.
Or how about something completely different (keep Matrix for the other side) and maybe more relevant to how the thread is evolving?

I used to be very concerned with the base rate but... The way it is going, most specialist are talking about first raise in 2014 (the second half of it). Raising the rate at the moment will be a clear lunacy (in fact raising it anytime soon) but then there are many influential lunatics...
MG, my advice would be: don't worry about the base rate. Focus on the important stuff.

To your first question: yes! Paying your mortgage off is part of the important stuff. The other part is getting to a position where you can pay it and overpay it - increase your income!
To your second question: a lot! There is an Eminen song where he asks 'how much damage can one do with a pen'. Everytime I hear it I shout back - a lot!

Not long back from the village (I walked there all up hill and walked back). I had to go and get my CV sorted only they had computer problems so it wasnt done:mad: Must try and cobble something together for these job apps as their closing dates are 11 November. Did get booked onto the Hospitality Course which means from 1.30-4.30 Mon thru Thursday I have training in town and get my bus ticket paid every day so I will save £14.40. Apparently, I get an EDL qualification whatever that is?
Nipped to credit union armed with crumpled £5 note and put that in to stop me spending it (that little savings pot is growing slowly). I also nipped into the Heart Foundation furniture shop (just for a mooch) - oh cursed skint me, if I didn't see a wonderful Edwardian blonde walnut double wardrobe for £80. It really was quite swanky with a tall hanging cupboard and the other side had hanging space for trousers complete with label saying trousers, a space for collars, a space for shirts and pyjamas all neatly labeled with ancient bakelite signs (am assuming bakelite). What gets me with that shop is that the newer stuff made from ticky tacky is always £100+ yet the real wood, quality stuff is cheap. I could even have picked up a refurb Aiwa stereo complete with record deck for £25. I didnt spend anything in there I just looked, however, I did stop in Aldi on the way back and picked up a tin of sliced peaches for 45p for the store cupboard.0 -

Well according to the guys I trained at mumble mumble mumble - there are 37 ways of killing a spy with a biro ................... now even though you are Bulgarian I am assuming that's not what you are referencing:D
As for increasing my income - first part is letting the rooms in January - hence the building of DS2's bedroom. That should give me a leaf a week to colour in when I have students here :j And my days are still free to build on.
