Claire I would still report it to eBay to get them to clarify if they thin he's in the wrong.

  • Yippee - after two short evenings work the PM accounts are up to date (year end is 31/12), credit control done, invoices raised, working accounts updated and we're very solvent, so have transferred a large sum out to our main account (will have a happy Treasurer then!) and outline plan made for next year.

Fab, can now get onto managing that other project without anything else financial to be worrying about (well other than my own finances that is). My impossible combination is beginning to shake down into manageable bursts.....

    a happy & relieved Moam

Bitsy - well done for taking the steps :T

And Helen - how exciting :j

Ummm - I have found a school for DD from my home country (English speaking one) and I have found a house. Now I just need to get my old job back and permit from the court to flee this country. AND!!! I can actually get a mortgage if I go back, I don't think my poor credit rating here can actually follow me :DDid someone say something about decluttering....

Been mega-busy today - 'boss socks' needed but were in the wash. Dealt beautifully with a nangy parent, have decluttered a boot full of stuff back to school from the house, taught all day, run a governors meeting and am now ready to hit the sack for a seriously well earned sleep!
    Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly

  • Helen, what lovely news.

Thanks to greenbee's suggestion to someone else my barely used black plastic dustbin which was languishing in the garden has now been put to use on my front doorstep as storage for my smokeless fuel. It has been heavily disguised by placing a pot full of plants in front of it so doesn't look too bad from the road. Thanks greenbee!

Also another piece of great advice from this thread has been to freeze portioned up food in a plastic bag placed inside a box until frozen, then the box can be removed leaving much more space in the freezer. I have managed to fit loads more in than usual and there is still room for more.

I feel so much happier now that things are more organised and I'm at last catching up with jobs which should have been done a long time ago. I have set myself a deadline to get it all up to date by the end of November so that I can enjoy the run up to Christmas without being in a panic. I now have half my Christmas presents purchased for way less than half the money I usually spend by starting earlier in the year and buying bargains when I see them. I have some Amazon vouchers for the rest - just need to come up with the right ideas!

Ooooooooooooooo!!!! now that's what I call creative thinking.

Helen's Honey - honey, candles, lipbalm, soap (help me out here ladies) .......... and we get mates rates ..............right????

    Bee keeping training? maybe??

    MG

I'm thinking all those things (except maybe candles- use too much beeswax for the return).
The plan is to start a blog, sort of follow the idiot whilst she attempts to restore/conserve this neglected SSSI whilst learning about wildflowers, wetlands and the art of hedgelaying. The website will also have a sales page with all of MGs ideas plus bags, teatowels etc inspired by the plants that grow there.
Also it is surrounded by neglected hedges and trees including hazel, blackthorn, elder and blackberries which I am allowed, in fact encouraged to restore which will mean free firewood provided I get myself a woodburning stove.
There are two springs on the land and most of it is wetland so most of the land use will be just admiring/ playing at making streams & ponds like a kid. One of the rare plants that grows there is the bogbean (I'd never heard of it either) which from photos I've seen is amazingly beautiful for such a prosaic name and we have adopted that as our symbol or logo.

Helen, can I suggest starting your blog now, and when you post have all the "before" pix on - even the buying process is interesting, you know. And then link the blog as your home page on here. Please :j:j:j

  • Just looked at bogbean on Google Images - it's beautiful! I'm so pleased for you Helen, what a delight for you, and will be the source of so much fun and fulfilment I am sure.

    Have a good day everyone.
If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.
