Afternoon all..must go back and catch up on all your shennanigans in a mo.

Bitsy - contact DIAL who will be able to give help in filling in the DLA forms, there is bound to be one near you (this is a disabled group who know what to put on the forms). I have seen those DLA forms they are awful - tried applying for DLA on the advice of jobcentre when first on the dole but I was told that as I could plan a meal and cook it that I wasn't entitled to anything, I never appealed and never bothered applying again.

Hugs to those that are bleurghh...and good wishes to everyone else.

Even though the weather is gloomy again today, I managed to get myself up and drag myself out this morning. I decided that I would go to the local baptist church where this employment company have set up shop (recommended by jobcentre as being good), I got there a wee bit late and was confronted by a room full of people who were form filling..so a bit trepidatious as to what was going on. I then joined in with the form filling and the literacy numeracy test.

I am going back tomorrow to have my CV looked at and I have enquired about a course because I know they run recognised courses at their offices in Birmingham. I have asked to go onto a hospitality course which will give me a recognised qualification so that I can work in hotels. I would need to attend every day for 2 weeks Mon-Thurs modules and Friday is exam day - I would receive a daysaver bus ticket every day (£3.60) and possibly some assistance with lunch.

Dinner last night was recooked stew, dinner tonight is recooked stew (it is such a yummy stew, I don't mind eating it 3 nights on the trot).

Let me share some excitement with you.
I've always wanted to live in the country but frankly was relying on winning the lottery to make this happen. Recently I had a bit of a rethink and started looking round for a bit of land without a house or planning permission that I could maybe afford. I came across a 5 acre site of Special Scientific Interest that Yorkshire Water were selling. Because it is a SSSI there is very little that can be done with it (although I do have permission to keep bees on it) so it should have been quite cheap. Anyway a friend and I together put in an offer of £3000 which is as low as we dared go and I've had this reply:
I believe the offer you made is favourable to Yorkshire Water but us accepting this offer will be dependant on a site meeting with Natural England and ensuring they are also happy with your proposals for the site.

    Woo! Woo! Woo!:j:j:j
I'm not worried about Natural England we will just do what they tell us to.

Welcome Boo - sounds like you are in the swing of it already.

Some help please ladies - you know how I have made DS2 a pile of trousers and shorts from men's trousers from the pound rack? Well I am now knitting my way through my stash making tops to match - but have lost my vavavoom.

So anyone got any piccies of cute little boy knits (not picture knits please) but textures and stripes if possible. I've had a good search through Ravelry but I am less than inspired - so if you see a cute picture I can probably adjust a basic pattern to make it IYSWIM?

Dinner is in the SC - Stovies - which is a delicate, light dish of pomme de terre and jus de beouf ...................:rotfl::rotfl:

Actually its a stick to your ribs dish of tatties, onions, dripping and left-over roast - it sets like concrete 30 minutes after you have eaten - hence the need for a knitting pattern so I feel less guilty about being glued to the sofa tonight :o

Go Helen :j. Can the land be used for anything else - thinking wetlands or natural habitat reclamation. Then using the wildflowers, etc to produce natural soaps, cosmetics, remedies. How exciting :T.

Bitsy - good luck with the DLA form. These two websites really helped me when I filled in ds's form.

    http://www.disabilityalliance.org/f2.htm#substantial%20danger

Don't be put off by the fact that this is for adults with mental health problems, it gives excellent definitions of all the terminology used in the DLA form.

This is from the NAS. It is also for adults unfortunately but if you scroll down to supplementary information there is a worddoc that you can download. This is a check-list of all things to include in your DLA application - it is a good way of highlighting all the small every-day things that you do without thinking for a person with ASD but that you wouldn't do with a NT child / individual.
