Welcome soupy.
Sun is trying to break through here so glad I've got most of the bits done inside that I need to so I can enjoy being out a bit later.
Must be disciplined now I am on here and get on with all the banking stuff I need to and my 2 ebay relists sold so I can get those sorted too.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
OK down to earth with a bump .................. why are HMRC so difficult to deal with??? I have never come across a string of "its not my job's" in such a long time.
They have mucked up - they have me going from PAYE to Self employed when I was on benefits - which has sent me all around the houses trying to get registered again (and we are fast approaching my first year OFF benefits BTW)
Thankfully my money is safely put to one side - although it looks like I will get the small earnings exemption anyways.
The lady I dealt with could not understand how I could survive on income that is only a few pennies bigger than Income Support!!!!!! I didn't even try to tell her that I have nearly cleared 10k in debt in two years on a teeny income
The laugh is I haven't actually taken any "income" from the business yet as I am afraid to do so until I have everything with HMRC sorted.
How can they make a mistake - and I'm supposed to know which department to call to get them to sort it when everyone tells you a different story??? .................. and don't even get me on their website - not an easy task for anyone with dyslexia!!!
And breathe - is it a full moon or something???? I seem to be having another day Diva Dramas :rotfl::rotfl:
There, I've had my rant. Off to do something productive:p

I'm afraid HMRC are just awful.
If you'd chose to write to them instead of call, there's a 12 week wait for an acknowledgment letter!0 -
Hello Matrix... I am back from my holidays... and sorry, I cannot spare the time to read back all the pages you have nattered in my absence! Well done MG on bringing down your ex-friend with a bump. I did that with alot of people from my University days, quite a few years ago now. It was the right thing to do. Also, commisserations on HMRC. I always say, RC by name, RC by Nature.
Had very productive morning back at work, and now need to keep my positive frame of mind for my meeting this afternoon.
Now I am back from hols, I feel there are lots of things I need to be thinking about and getting clear in my mind. Going to do some productive thinking this afternoon/evening when I am waiting for choir rehearsal to start I think.
Hope all are well. GB - please take it easy!!"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
Hope you get sorted soon MG, as you say .... and breathe...
Tmif Cheery would be the one to ask about the WI. I am not a member but I do know that there is a very wide age range in some groups. In fact I don't know how I know about Denholme College but I just do - maybe give them a ring, they may be able to advise a course that you fit into to agewise.
Back from the dentist and feel like I have been hit by a bus (but then I always do, me and dentist's don't mix) One appointment down and one to go next Monday. Ooooh is this going to be sore when the injection wears off.
Waves hello to soupy
Eta also waves to Crickett, hope you had a lovely break.0 -
I hate dealing with the incompetent buffoons at HMRC - I put the wrong figure down in a box for working tax credits and they paid me £24 a week instead of £51 and refused point blank to let me have more money, no wonder I am struggling now. I need to ring them to tell them about my move to jobseekers allowance but I just can't seem to get through to the twerps.
Why is it that people don't beleive you when you say you are living very frugally - do they think that £300 a month is what everyone spends on food?
I must compose myself, I have a meeting tonight to talk about mayors and am looking at Forever Living. Need to go to bank to withdraw £10 which I need to give to someone as she paid by standing order for breakfasts - I cannot provide the second breakfast she has paid for. I need to buy milk because I have used all the ovaltine and my hot choc plus this will give me money for bus fare this evening. May withdraw £20 from bank as need money for Thursday night as I have managed to wangle an invitation to an event with Goldman Sachs and Aston University and I will need to get the bus to the city centre. I have found out about some funding for businesses that have growth potential whereby I would have to attend University for 100 sessions between November and March 2012. Ideally they wanted businesses who employed between 5-40 staff, however, there is only me but because I have huge potential and want to turn my business into a global franchise (hark at me lol) then I have been asked to apply.0 -
You know how I said I was also one person pulled out to be "sampled" for Tax Credits check - well I have just phoned them to say I have copied all the evidence they need except for:
HMRC Self-employed stuff and
One bank statement that has gone missing
............... and I got a human being:j A lovely man called My Robert Norris who told me not to bother ordering he lost statement as they would only charge me - and HMRC - nuff said.
So I have popped everything else into an envelope and then threw in a copy of my book to say thank you -for NOT being a "its not my job!!"
Hopefully everything is now done and dusted - until HMRC decide to get back in touch I suppose.
BTW I am wiped out now - nt sure I can do anything creative today. May have to resort to the ironing:eek:

Yup - resorted to ironing and Stephen Fry on i-player. As a distraction from a detested job I can highly rate him:D
30 minutes per week it takes me -why oh why do I keep putting it off LOL.

I've been having a bit of a shytty time just recently, but today things seem to have turned a corner
DS2 finally sorted - SO much drama over the last two months.
K4K is coming to an end........
And I had a job interview this morning (only temp, but money's too tight to mention at the mo) so Popeye has returned leaving me behind and I got the job :j Start Wednesday
Went into T*sco after the interview and have some work clothes (everybody wears black, why?) and the assistant gave me an extra voucher so the bill was only £32
people at HMRC were always nice to meBut for a £14.50 refund this year I received FOUR letters advising me how my claim was progressing :rotfl:
