hi all, I'm still lurking but not posting much.
just wanted to say thank you to Groatie Queen for the link to greatday.com, that was a wonderful lift yesterday morning and as a result I had a brilliant day. :T
thoughts to HovelLady and Fantasia, and greenbee and others who are having tough times.
also, I loved the Place of My Own challenge. Really my whole house is my own, but a spot to sit, away from the chaos and mess (about to get worse as I will be starting some serious fixing upping), really appeals. Thanks for the nudge to think about this0 -
Seconded, thanking Groatie Queen for the greatday link, how fantastic!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

MG can you make a nice cozy place of your own to use when DS2 is out or after he has gone to bed?
Still stuck on OH's present, and on what to feed him on Thursday night, and I have to sort it all out today and tomorrow. Once lunch is done I will get some laundry done and tidy up properly after my day in the sofa yesterday as I want it to be nice and welcoming for him.0 -
greenbee...if all he wants is you, then give him just that...wrap yourself up in a nice biiiig bow lol
MG... have searched and searched for a book, but i havent got one....so i got a pile of printer paper, stapled them in half and made my own, is that ok?

Whatever works webitha:D
Finally have finished all of DS2's trousers - fabulous wardobe in great fabrics that cost me - well nothing because they are recycled Grandad trousers.:T
I now will take on the challenge of making shirts to go with said trousers - as soon as I can get him to stand long enough to make a pattern.
DS1 wants on Club Penguin for a while - must go and do something productive before Mentors call.

I rediscovered 'a place of my own'. A few years ago during a period of umemployment my OH built a huge shed at the bottom of the garden - its more of a wooden chalet and a small family could easily live in it:eek: - the idea was to have a workshop of OH and all his tools and bits of wood,a corner of which would house all the gardening/camping/bird feeders etc. This bit runs the width of the shed and is the back half of the building IYSWIM. The front 3/4 is an office or as we now call it the 'shoffice' which has a lovely clear roof to let all the light in and is well insulated and has electric heating - the idea a PC would be placed in there and my work stuff to get it oput of the house and give who ever uses it some peace and quiet. In truth its a bit of a dumping ground at the monent whilst we sort out some other areas of the house:( The rest of the the building i.e the front 1/4 is a wooden veranda/decked area;open on 1 side and a rail along the other - this was to be my place and the only stipulation in me agreeing to the shed being built
It gets the sun first thing in the morning - I'm usually up first - and looks back over the garden towards the house but is flanked on one side by a large birch so quite hidden. In the evening the sun slants through the branches over the rail and its always a warm spot - the cats love it of course:rotfl:Anyway yesterday I reclaimed it as it too had become a bit of a dumping area - bits of flippin wood mainly - its now swept, wood removed and a rocking chair in place. Despite it being distinctly autumnal here, I sat outside today with blanket 2 cats and started on my book club book which I need to finish by next week. Thanks for the challenge:)

I'm imagining you all snuggled up in your private spots over the weekend - how cool is that challenge??
Last August challenge in the morning - can't believe how quickly this month has gone.
MFi3 starts "officially" on the first - and I must confess to having a few mini-wobbles on this one - it's such a biggie.
All of DS2's shirts are now cut out - now if I could only get the bleeding over-locker to play fair I would be laughing( I hate threading this beasty) - one more try and if no go I will be hiding in the living-room knitting tonight instead. It will still be staring and sniggering at me in the morning.

My own space sorted, rocking chair in corner of bedroom, with crafty box behind it and great light for stitching/reading. Am able to people and cloud watch from the window and still have one bit of blind shut so nosey neighbours can't see me
Good day back at work today, and took time to work out what I actually need to do to get ready for children starting on Thursday.
Have also set new school year resolutions for myself:
1) get in for 8am,
2) get as much work done in school as possible,
3) be early with paperwork I'm asked for,
4) do 15 mins in classroom zones (like flylady)
Am easily distracted so have set a very mini financial reward (pennies) for these resolutions and I am saving for an ipod speaker that I can keep at work.Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly

I realised something today after watching tv whilst ironing last night. It was cowboy builder program and the garden had been wrecked, they did the garden up as the lady wanted to enjoy the outside space. It made me think I never really 'enjoy' any room in our house or the garden. Not because there is anything wrong with them but because I am so task driven. If I'm in the garden I'm usually doing some gardening, putting the washing out etc, occasionally having a cuppa but that is all. Same with each room in the house, I'm either cleaning it, tiding it, ironing in it etc you get the picture. So I need to know are any of you like this too? Is there anything wrong with this? I heard a quote on the radio today (may have been from a film possibly Ferris something or other) that unless you occasionally stop and look around you everything just passes you by (something like that).
Sorry rambling but hopefully you'll pick a thread through this.
Hi Dustykitten
I know this was a few days ago but I have been away and now quite a few pages behind on my reading of the threads and also my decluttering challenge hasn't been updated since Thursday.
So in your answer to your query I am exactly the same. I find it almost impossible to relax properly. Even when I am watching TV I have to do something else (like yourself, ironing or like right now, catching up on the internet)
I am continually thinking about how much I HAVE to fill every minute of every day with something worthwhile.
My list of 'things I want to be able to do' is growing all of the time and I am starting the lists and post-it notes pinned all around my little work room.
Earlier this year I was told that I don't have the medical condition that I was diagnosed 16 years ago. Since I was diagnosed I thought I was living on borrowed time as my mam and her dad had died of the same condition. I think that my outlook on life changed since that diagnosis and I thought that I had to make the most of every single minute.
Now I can't actually rid myself of this and find that relaxation is a bit of an impossible task!
Needless to say I am actually working on it but it's a long time coming!
