damn I meant to cancel before the next direct debit (went out today!). If I cancelled today would they 1) refund me the unused portion of the credit, or 2) allow you use for the rest of the month that you have paid for or 3) stop today with no refund?

this may determine whether i cancel today or have to make the most of the DVD's for another month

Seems an odd amount! I guess they are having the paymentn probs as it's on the holiday?? I'll be cancelling online after 8pm anyhoo!

    1) No

    2) No

3)I would cancel 10 days before you next direct debit after removing all DVDs from your selection and send the remaining DVds back by Signed For Delivered post.

I've just had a reply to my email asking Lovefilm where my Boots vouchers are. Here it is:

    Dear *****

Thank you for your recent e-mail.

Further we would like to inform that the voucher is credited only after twenty eight days of subscription and is not available once the account is cancelled before availing the offer.

    Kind regards,

    Shuba

But these are the terms and conditions of the offer I signed up for.
As far as I'm aware, I fulfilled all the conditions. I took out the free trial subscription, accepted some DVD's, cancelled by phone, now I'm still waiting for my vouchers:confused:

This is the email I have sent back to them:

    Dear Lovefilm,

Further to your recent reply to my email regarding £15 Boots vouchers not yet received. As far as I am aware, I have fulfilled all my obligations under the terms of the offer. I subscribed for the offer, accepted some DVD's and then cancelled the subscription by phone, so I have availed myself of the offer. I still cannot understand why I have not received by vouchers, and your email is unclear as to the reason.

    Kind regards,

    ****

As far as I'm aware, I fulfilled all my obligations under the offer. Maybe I'm being a bit dim and not understanding the T&Cs??
  • As I said before, they are a bunch of robbing con-artists!!!!
I am still hassling them with at least 1 e-mail a day, just to make me feel good!!! lol

my friend (who's had jsut as many problems with them as i have) used to call them up purely to kick off (i know its harsh but we work in a call centre too so we know how it feels)

she would kcik off and demand a manager, and guess what, there are no team leaders or manager or senior workers their on the weekend.

yeah, great way to run a call centre.

    i really, immaturely, HATE them.
any fault and i'm pulling them on it, complaing and slating them.
over the last 3 months (thank god i only paid for one, and i still feel ripped off) they have wound me up so much
  • I logged into my lovefilm account in order to cancel. When i found the cancellation page there was no way to cancel online . I had to phone an 0800 number to cancel . My account showed that the next billing date was the 23rd sept. I checked this a few times leading up to the 22nd. Mysteriously on the day after i first looked at cancelling the account was renewed after a payment being taken on the 22nd of sept so now i am signed up for another month. I know the date had been the 23rd having checked it on numerous occasions. Had i cancelled yesterday when i planned to maybe the sculldugery wouldnt have happened as all i did was visit the cancellation page which told me to call, this must have prewarned them of my intention and they renewed a day early and now tell me that i got my dates wrong. My account now shows the new renewal date so i cant do anything about it.
Is this the way they always operate?
  • Sorry but I would not touch this company with a bargepole for the following reason.

Husband got a years subscription for Christmas from his sister, we had to give them card details to activate the gift.

Rang up to cancel beginning of Nov as it ran out in Dec, all DVDs etc returned. Was told couldnt cancel till next month as over the date (even though it was a year long gift ??) Various phone calls and emails to their call centre abroad where each time I phoned they would play pass the parcel with my call. I was apologised to and told it would all be cancelled. Thought all was well until January when we were charged ! went through the same process of phoning etc was told we would have refund, nothing. February, more money taken out of our account (which should have been closed at the end of the previous year) rang up fairly livid and was told as this wasnt a DD and was a recurring card payment there was nothing they could/would do and would ensure a refund.
March, again money came out of our account !! Cancelled card and actually switched bank accounts (by coincidence but who knows what would have happened otherwise) Never recieved refund despite being told we would.

My husband really wants to get the Tesco service but after Lovefilm I am really reluctant.

I would never ever touch Lovefilm again and to add insult, they still send us promotional offers - Like we would ever go there again.

the call centre were incompetent and didnt seem interested that they were taking money off us every month for a service that was a gift and we never had any intention of continuing (which is why we cancelled early)

Steer well clear, it might be a good deal to begin with but cancelling is a nightmare.

the irony is that the actual service itself was ok it was the afterwards which made it dreadful

    Never ever again
