Sorry if this has already been asked - Off to malta in two weeks and have already started taking vitamin b tablets as have heard this helps a lot. I did this for Egypt a few months ago however and they still bit me, maybe not as much but did still nevertheless!
Are there are DEFINITELY effective remedies so my holiday doesnt turn into a scratch fest?
Any help at allll?

Search this forum for 'mosquitoes' and it will throw up several threads full of different peoples' ideas. Take your pick! What is obvious is that what works for one will not necessarily work for another.0

Theres a post on this thread about an Avon product that is very good for getting rid of pesky insects0 -
Avons 'Skin-So-Soft' worked for me, and I swear having Marmite on toast for breakfast every day helps too. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0

Skin so Soft Worked for me this year in South Carolina after 80% Deet failed. It was recommended by the local Walgreens pharmacist, but he did say it may not work for everyone.
As for Marmite on toast  I would rather dance naked through a dozen clouds of mozzies than eat a single bite!0 -
Just back from Corfu where there were loads of mossies and I always get bitten.
I didn't get any bites this time don't know if it was just luck. I took vitamin B and antihistamines before I went away. Showered with lemon source and used lemon shampoo and sprayed myself with skin so soft everynight before I went out.0 -
Get some Lime Original Source shower gel, that also helps and it smells lovely! Available at all places like Boots/Sainsburys etc.
And Boots mozzie repellent, the strong one in a grey bottle.:beer:0 -
The only reliable method I've found is to take someone with you who is more attractive to mossies than you are :sad:0

Here's what I do:
Vitamin B Complex (it has to be the complex version for some reason)
Yeast extract tablets (I don't like Marmite so this is the alternative)
No perfume
Antihistamines - start two days before I go, and take one every day. Don't buy branded stuff. Ask your pharmacist for Loratadine. It's the same stuff as the branded ones, and non-drowsy. Works a treat and is much cheaper.
Get a prescription from the doc for Fucidin H. This is in case you get bitten. It's a magic cream that takes down swelling and stops the itching. It's an antibiotic/antihistamine cream.
Tonic water. Don't (just) drink it. Put it on a face cloth and rub over exposed areas before dusk. It's not sticky and is actually rather a good moisturiser.
If there's aircon in the room, keep it on to the lowest temperature you can, whenever you're out of the room. Mozzies don't like the cold, so won't enjoy a chilly room.
Avoid stagnant waters, as that's where they breed, the pesky so-and-so's.
Good luck. Hope this helps.Call me what you like, I was a bit "tiddly" when I chose my username

I didn't wear any perfume this year either and I usually do, no bites along with all the things I did in my list in post above.0
