Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday, 30th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all! - couldn't see another thread, but merge if i have missed it!
I have been up for a while, had to go pick up my car which i left at the pub last night, it was a lovely 30 min walk through the village next to ours, i love looking at property and most of these are victorian or earlier and just beautiful!
I have also paid my rent, and other bills. OH is working today so i shall potter at home, do the house work, get the WM working and lunches sorted the for week ahead.
I need to find a machine that will let me pay in a cheque as OH is working in the west country next week, and is taking my car so need to get that to the bank today if possible.
Have a lovely day all

Morning all
Very cloudy here today, but it is supposed to clear up & be warm later.
I have some ironing to do but will probably leave it til tomorrow & spend time in the garden today. Hubby will watch the Hungarian GP later & we're having roast lamb for tea with HG veg.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Bramble and all who cross and follow,
Lovely day here, hope it stays like that, it got a bit chilly yesterday. Seem to have fixed laptop prob for now. Up early to go to gym class and will pick DS up after. Need to go to farm shop and pick up some veg as well. Decorating is going well, although my hall is massive so it's a huge job.
Really pleased with school uniform purchases yesterday. Got 6 shirts, 4 pairs of trousers and a pack of socks in Tesco for £30, now just got to get the money together for his shoes.
Plan today to crack on with sanding, have got the big dog later so want to get most of it done before I get him. Also have some seedlings to go in which I might get done. Tea is whatever we fancy off the menu planner.
Have a good day all and big hugs to anyone who wants one.

Good morning,
Finally the sun has come out in Cambridgeshire- at last! Well sadly I've been up since 6 due to my flipping cat wanting to be fed and let out:mad: every morning she wakes me up between 5-6.30am. Okay on work day but not on a Sunday morning
Well yesterdahy finally got round to doing an inventory of all the foodstuffs I have in the house, what a task! So today I will be compiling menus from the lists- hoping to spend very little of my grocery budget!
Plans wise, church and then come home for lunch and spend the rest of the day pottering around the house whilst my hubbie and boys finish painting their bedroom and playroom- I've told hubbie I would like the whole house redecorated by the time I return to work in September- He is going to have a go:T:D
Anyhoo best go and get ready and wake my boys up (including the hubbie who sadly would lie in bed all day given the opportunity!)
Have a fab and restful Sunday

Morning all,
I haven't posted for a long time. Just wanted to say Hi again. Up at stupid O' clock, BM nearly finished, DW emptied and the ironing pile should have a light on top to warn low flying aircraft. Nice and sunny here so will mow the lawn today. DH has promised to wash the car, just wish he would clean the inside of it. Roast beef (ys) and all trimmings for dinner.
Hope it's a good day for all.0 -
I need to find a machine that will let me pay in a cheque as OH is working in the west country next week, and is taking my car so need to get that to the bank today if possible.
Only cash machines I know that do this are actually located inside the branch so you might struggle with this.Well sadly I've been up since 6 due to my flipping cat wanting to be fed and let out:mad: every morning she wakes me up between 5-6.30am. Okay on work day but not on a Sunday morning
I feel your pain.....killer cat does this to me EVERY day but I dare not have a cat flap for fear of the "spoils" she'd bring indoors
Feeling tired, was fed up last night. I am up at the crack of dawn at 6am and on my feet all day and I got to sit and relax after 9.30pm last night. So if I want to sit with H and watch a film then I end up having yet another late night. Just fed up with the situation never getting any better <sigh> ignore me.....it's the tiredness talking.
Plans for today are to list some stuff on ebay, I tried setting up Turbolister but couldn't get it to work  Popping to see a friend who's set up some accounts spreadsheets for my accounts. I need to do some baking and put the vac round and as for the ironing.....well like betheebee says it should have a warning light on the top of it it's so big  Am feeling at this rate like we're going to need to need to start doing a mid week iron as well as a weekend one
Tea will be something with chicken but not sure what exactly
Hugs and spoons all round, have a great day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Good Morning x
Hugs to you Bitsy. It will get better x
Im anticipating an emergency dental appointment with youngest son as he has been up all night. Now he is a very stoical chap so it really must be hurting him:eek::eek::eek: I think the emergency dentist is in Oxford so a 50 mile return trip in store for us. It never rains but it pours - Kids Dad is very tired and grumpy this morning too:eek::eek::eek:
I also have four hospital/ GP appointments this week which is scary. I really wish I just had a clear week like last week. It was just so normal.
Im planning chicken for dinner with all the trimmings. I had one in the freezer and it has been defrosting. There is the usual washing to be organised and Kids Dad will do the ironing.
Hope you all have a good day xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning all
Have at last woken to sunshine, just been out to hang washing on line and it's gorgeous now so think it's going to be a warm one! Had a nice day yesterday, DH and the boys went out at about 3pm and didn't get back until 10pm - so had a chill time, made some chocolate brownies and lemon drizzle cake, did some work on pc for our caravan rally next year and typed a letter also regarding this - this is now ready to post, will take it to work with me tomorrow as there is a GPO near where I work. Dinner for me last night was freezer roulette, found a portion of vegetable curry so cooked some rice and voila! an easy meal.
Have got a pork loin joint out of the freezer so lunch today will be roast pork, roasties, mash, carrots, broccolli, green beans, peas, yorkshires and gravy. Will be watching the GP whilst we eat.
Everyone up here this morning, will go and organise some bacon rolls in a moment - doesn't taste the same as when we have them whilst we're away in the caravan but still nice!
Have a good and restful/enjoyable Sunday everyone, be careful in the sun x :T

Morning :hello:
J laid the slabs, it's looking good so farMr tru collected another 22 slabs yesterday, they're still on the van so we'll have to unload them today. We built a cover (I'm sure it has a name, but I don't know what it is, lol) between the house and the shed, it's lengths of wood from wall to wall, covered with ply then felted. We built it as high as we could. We had to build the patio up, if we carry on at that height then mr tru is going to hit his head every time he goes to the shed :rotfl: So we have to put a step down. This job was supposed to be easy. The camera is broken, I wish I could take a pic so you could actually understand what I'm trying to say
I have a huge gammon in the fridge. I wanted to cook it today then slice it up, but the freezers are full to bursting.
The other trus were very lazy with their housework yesterday, so obviously I won't be doing much today. If mr tru paints another coat in the hall, then I'll do a bit of ironing.Bulletproof0 -
Morning all :j
Beautiful day here, have our bedding in the wm, and will get dd to strip hers once thats finished.
Finally got round to ordering our bathroom yesterday, I have been looking for weeks and have been unable to find the right one, but found it yesterday and its being delivered next Monday :j:j, I also ordered the tiles, I need a new light fitting and a PVC roller blind, and then apart from all the boaring plumbing bits we are there, its taken us months to save up for it, and the money disapears very quickly, but I am thrilled to be getting rid of the grotty bathroom we inherited, OH and I will be putting the new bathroom in ourselves, there may be arguments
Need to start saving again now for the lounge, which I want doing before Xmas.
Need to shout for dd in a second, she is off out with her dad today, OH and I will probably nip over to the afternoon bootie, then back and take the dogs out, I always try and get mums dog out at the weekend to give her a long run.
Nabs for dinner tonight, and OH and I need to mow / strim the lawn. I bought myself a bunch of Lillys yesterday, pink and white ones, they are just starting to open and smell beautiful, OH used to get me a bunch each week, which I loved, musttry to get him doing that again :rotfl:
Bethebe how nice to see you posting, please stay with us xx
Anniestar, how are you doing ??
Have good days all xxx
Edited to say, sistercas, the t-shirts came out brilliantly well worth your dd's having a go, and a fraction of the cost of the shop bought ones.0 -
Morning all
Still in bed with lappie and a cuppa although did go down and put DS's bedding in the WM. Sunny today and seems warm so grass cutting seems in order-hoping DS will do it!
May wander down and see the harbour festival later.
Bitsey (hugs)
Have a good day all.
