  • Just remembered - someone recommended this website where you can purchase fairtrade and natural products at really cheap prices. I was in my element placing my first order. The Virgin Red Palm oil is highly recommended or Coconut oil which is slightly cheaper. :)

    Hi skyepark,

As you have posted a thread on this on the Green and Ethical board I've moved your post over there so that they can be merged as duplicate threads on the chat forums can cause a bit of confusion. See here

Good luck with finding a water softener. :)

The best solution to this is to get a water softerner fitted in the house.
If you own your own home these are a great investment because hard water can do a great deal of damage to pipework etc.

I guess it's not something you would want to pay hundreds of pounds for if you live in rented accomodation, although if you did really want it you could suggest to your landlord that he fits one (presumably in return for a small uplift in rent).

    Hello

Lush (have shops in most big cities, and a website) do solid shampoo bars called Soft and Hard for use in ..well.. soft and hard water areas, not tried them myself so no idea how well they work but might be worth a try?

As a bonus, since they're solid bars you don't have to worry about recycling an empty plastic bottle afterwards.

    Hope that helps, Sarri

    Hi,
Try mixing a teaspoonful of bicarbonate of soda with your shampoo. This is also a great way to get rid of 'lingering' hair products. I do this about once a week and after rinsing my hair is squeaky clean and dries to a lovely shine. It is also really good for itchy scalp.
