Toilet Roll

Well somebody has to ask!
Is there an OS way of saving on the cost of toilet rolls?
We don't like the really cheap and thin papers and no, I don't want to use old newspaper!!
So is there a way to save on the amount of this being used, not just from a financial viewpoint but also from an eco one.

I'll say it before anyone else does - family cloths!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

There is an excellent OS thread on small by significant ways of saving money, one of the posts recommended squashing the toilet roll so it would only offer in small increments rather than roll to it's heart's content like the Andrex ad.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Umm if you don't like the idea of family cloths you could simply squash the roll before you put it on the holder it stops it spinning and so much coming off- it really works much to my husbands disgust! I've two boys who think they need to use at least a half of a toilet roll each visit to the bathroom.

Use both sides?I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

Buy them in bulk at your local Costco or Cash & Carry.
Keep 'em locked up and allocate them to the family when you buy.
To the follow-up poster - Give one to each son and tell them it has to last a week/fortnight, and if they use it all, they have to buy more themselves.0 -

I just knew you'd get the 'cloths' answer taxsaver, I just can't believe anyone actually does that. The rationing suggestion takes me back to when you had a ask for paper at school.
I agree with the flattening the roll idea, especially if you've got children in the house.
Best value (if you must buy any;)) IMO is Nicky brand from Farmfoods. It's 9 rolls per pack, 2 packs for £4. Soft, strong, quilted.....what more could you ask for? And I'm speaking as an Andrex convert:D0
