    You want ideas on how to make money? There's 2 things that instantly spring to mind.

    1 - Sell some of your things. Own anything of value that you can live without? Sell it. If the course is more important you that is. I'd hazard a guess that you won't want to do this.

    2 - When I was a similar age to yourself I walked into my local (well, 3 miles away) McDonalds and filled out an application form. I started the next day. They usually have quite a high staff turnover because students come and go regularly. Have you thought about applying to one of their stores? You'll have your £200 before you can bat an eyelid.

    1 - not of much value but i could try and flog it at a carboot sale.
    2 - I have tried mcdondalds,kfc,every where no one has anything. if i can get a job then i wouldnt be asking for help :/

    What sort of help ideas were you hoping for? So far, it's been suggested that,

    1. Educational expenses are your parents' responsibility.
    2. The college finance office will be able to advise you about any extra funding you could apply for.
    3. You could get part time employment.
    4. You could get part time self employment (baby sitting/dog walking/general chores.)
    5. You could sell your unwanted belongings.
    6. You could fund raise for the money you need.

    I've worked in college advice and guidance for years and I can't think of anything else to suggest!

    If you are in a situation which would require first aid anyone who even had a qualification would phone 999 and instructions would be given over the phone to assist you and an ambulance would be sent as a priority with a child.

    If you are active in your church how about asking them to sponser you in a bike ride but remember to inform them the money raised is to help you attend college not for a charity, or you could bake biscuits or cakes and sell them at the back of church after a service to help raise money.

    Lastley if you wish to babysit advertise in your church as I imagine you already know the parents and instead of a crb get the vicar or leader of the childrens club to write you a reference saying you are of good character.

    Yep this seems like I've given you some ideas - bake sales are very cheap to set up maybe about £20 for all ingredients and over the next 4 Sundays you could have made £200 at an average of £50 per Sunday

    Make a couple of batches of cupcake style and sell for £1 biscuits for the same and you could make larger cakes which you could sell for £4-£5.
  • Another thing that might be of use to people (however if really only works if you're home alone and there's no one to disturb) is to offer your services as someone who can sign for large items due in the mail / special deliveries / maybe even sit in someone's house while their new washing machine gets installed. It would be slow work for mail items as more than £1 might be considered a bit steep when they can just pop to the sorting office but if you got £5 for sitting in for an important delivery of a large item (the alternative being someone having to take time off work) I think that would be a valuable service.

    You could also wash cars or mow lawns, I guess that has to be the sort of thing you'd enjoy though, I personally wouldn't like it.
    Thank you competition posters!

    3. I have tried to get a job, even part time but no one has anything. I've tried the whole of down town & another place full of shops, but they don't have any work or that i can't be hired because im not 18.

    5 & 6 - I'm planning on having a carboot sale once my boyfriend is back from holiday. I could fundraise but people seems to give to charity instead. I'll discuss it with people at church in case they'd help me & would understand. maybe i could split the total between me & a charity, so everyone wins :)

    I don't think anyone was suggesting that you hadn't made any efforts yourself, just that pretty well all the bases had already been covered.

    I hope you manage to sort something out.

  • It's only £200 quid.. you could do some of the following:

    * Wash cars (40 x £5)
    * Do people's gardening (or at least mow lawns)
    * Do some cleaning
    * Babysit (forget the CRB check and only look after older kids)
    * 'Bob-a-job' - you're part of a church community, right? So ask if anyone has odd-jobs they want doing in exchange for some money.

    When I was 15, i was quite computer savy (this was the 90s) and I use to fix people's computers around my area. Had to put adverts in newsagents windows and post lots of fliers around the local houses.
