How to make money to pay for my college course?

Options
hey there. I'm 17 and in September, I'm hopefully going to study childcare.
However the college fund is around £200.
I have been job hunting and trying everywhere for a job but nothing is going around anymore.

I need ideas on how to make £200 by the end of the summer holidays.

all ideas welcome.
Thank you.

When you say "college fund" what do you mean?

You do realise that your parents still receive full government funding for you and that most people would consider your educational expenses to be their responsibility?

The obvious way to make money for someone who likes children would be babysitting.
  • um well,
I need £200 to be on the course.
And i don't really want to baby sit until i get a CBR check from my church & first aid.
(I know the basics but im shaky on CPR & more serious stuff)

My parents are in a bad finance situation. So i'm pretty much trying to support myself and my family.

I've never heard of a babysitter being asked for a criminal records check or first aid certificate.
  • Well in case anything happens - i don't want the parents or carers to cause any trouble - I wanna show them im responsible

  • You could not get a CRB check for babysitting anyway and the key first aid you need to know is common sense and can be picked up from the leaflet St Johns Ambulance is currently promoting free on TV (or from the internet). St John's also run regular 'Breath of Life' courses on CPR.

Sell your stuff on Amazon or e-bay for extra cash, save up your allowance, check out access to learning funds.

You could also try to be sponsored for something. Get the local paper involved and set up an paypal account and button so people can give you money. You could also enquire with supermakets, they may allow you to pack bags and collect some money.

  • Why can't i? The church has to do one for me anyway as I am over 16 and need to have it to be put on the childcare team. And also, I don't get allowance. We don't get much money at all.

I'm a keen bicycle rider so i could be sponsored to do a bike ride.
What other kinds of fundraising things should i do?
Another idea i had is to go "Gorilla hunting" over the summer maybe thats another fundraising thing?

My Nan also wants me & her to start a crafts business, so that should help.

I don't really have much to sale although What i do have i can try and shift at a carboot or something.

hm, I guess packing bags wouldn't be too bad :)

most people will only give money for fundraising for registered charities..... i'm not sure so many people will give money for you..... it may be worth a try, but don't stop trying to get a job as well. keep an eye out in local papers and with all local agencies.

  • im not giving up but i need something to support me whilst im job hunting.
its so bad i have even considered removing dog waste from gardens.
I can do good photo edits and tidy up?

I had a crazy idea. People on youtube send in challenges then donate some money (Their choice) for me to do it.
I will give something back. Such as fundraising after i reach the set amount for WarChild/Water aid, become an organ donater , a blood donater and just be more giving.

You can't just go and get a CRB for yourself, it has to be requested by an employer or institution like the college.

If you come from a low income family your parents will receive over £70 per week fro the government to support you while you remain in education. They don't necessarily have to give you an allowance but they should be responsible for your education costs.
  • Church needs a cbr & they can do it

...my parents use that to buy food & pay the bills.
    I haven't even seen that money. o.o
