    Debt-free and Proud!
However I have decided to upgrade my challenge to Silver BUT if I reach £2007 I will use some of the money to buy a new pc. My existing one is almost 10 years old which makes it practically a museum item. It didn't cost me anything as I negotiating keeping it as part of my redundancy settlement in 2000 so it has served me well. But it keeps crashing, is slow and is increasingly limiting e.g. I was given an Ipod for Christmas but can't download iTunes, I can't download Turbo Lister from Ebay (which meant that I couldn't take advantage of the last 10p listing day as I didn't have time to list items that day but could have uploaded them if I had been able to prepare them in advance). Is this a convincing enough argument to spend the money? I will only buy the pc if I hit the Silver Target so it will come out of "extra funds".

Will need to "up the ante" on my EBay and Amazon sales to reach the Silver target starting with that Ipod.

Well done on the work payment - brilliant! I think if you hit silver you should spend it on what you want - and a new PC would be a good investment. And the iPod on eBay - please don't tempt me... I am supposed to be saving! I must not look.... :D

Well, my ebaying is finished for the week, and working out everything with fees and postages taken off, my new total is £53.67 :j .

Will be listing some more books on Amazon this weekend, but nothing I have on at the moment looks like shifting so I'm not too hopeful.

I can't wait for next month when Lloyds will be starting the save the change thingy, I'm expecting a good whack off them a month in February and March.

Then, next month I'm going to apply for Tax Credits (can I include them in this as I am doing it specifically for this challenge?).

April is when I am going to hit the Clydesdale bank for bank charges... got to get my statements out of the loft at home, and get all the letters (and my courage) together.

I don't know how much bank charges I will be due, but I will change my challenge total accordingly as per the rules :).

This challenge is getting into a bit of confusion, I think the not including bank charges needs to go in big letters on the 1st post

Its really down to the individual whether or not they include the bank charges in their total. I think Annie suggested one method would be to increase your target by the amount reclaimed, for example, if you're on the gold challenge, and you get £500 back in bank charges, increase your taregt by £500, and stick the new target in brackets...

    Before: Gold challenge: £1200/£3000
    After: Gold challenge: £1700/(£3500)

Okay, a mini-challenge. I want the funniest response to the joke with an as-yet-undetermined punchline:

"How many MSE Olympians does it take the change a lightbulb?"

    :D

unfortunately, i've only just read this and haven't read any further so if you've heard my response, sorry.

it takes none to change the lightbulb, coz they don't turn the lights on as they're saving cash!!!!

i'm still on none although i've done a couple of mystery shops! Does anyone know if once you've done your mystery shops, do you get some form of confirmation or do you just await the cash?

I have £110 to add on :j This is my profit (after all fees ) from my ebay sales that finished yesterday. I have more auctions finishing tomorrow but not much money bid on those as they are all books.
