2007 Olympic Challenge

  • I thought this week was very poor on the challenge - my Ebay attempts have been pathetic for the past couple of weeks - I've sold items but after charges and postage I'm only making a tiny profit.

Then on Saturday morning I got a letter from the taxman with a cheque for a tax refund !!!!!! I had to read it 3 times to convince myself that it wasn't a demand for payment but no it was a genuine cheque :j
I know that bank charges aren't being counted in the challenge but I want to count this refund as I made the claim in January as a result of something I read on here (Martin's Dad's articles on self assessment tax - thanks Martin's Dad :T )

So this brings my total to date to £2,015.33 meaning that I have made the Silver target - I will upgrade to Gold next week though I'm not sure how I am going to get there. If my sums are correct and there are another 17 weeks left on the challenge I need to average £57.92 per week for the next 17 weeks and I certainly won't be able to do that on Ebay sales. Still I didn't expect to get to silver by March so I will keep looking for new ways to make and save money via this brilliant site.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

  • well if the weather starts to be like this more often Ill be having that car boot sale sooner than I thought!! The car boot stash is starting to overflow the bag! although Ill probably end up bringing alot of it back to be honest!

must have a sort through all those clothes that I no longer wear see if thereis anything worth adding to the bag (might not make alot but it would be better than it just sitting in my wardrobe taking up space!!)

got creditted with another £10 for mystery shopping today, but it doesn't go in until monday!!!

also pulled a real coup at the phone shop today!!!

i went in to change contracts coz my phone is pants and wanted a better deal and the young lad doing the figures cocked up big time!!

he said that to buy me out of my contract would cost me £150 and he would give me £180 in cash when it should have been £180 to buy out of contract and £150 in cash!!

his boss checked this and approved it, so i was £30 better off and then i ended up getting a better deal at £9 per month cheaper, so for april may june and july thats £36 better off. He then tried to sell me some insurance whcih i get free anyway and he said if i got 3 onths insurance today (total of £30 or £10 per month) he would give me £20 towards it? seemed fair enough as i would just wait till the insurance is set up and cancel it??

so a total of £30 plus £36 and £20 better off, plus a brand new phone!!!! get in there!!!
