Yes, it was a different company but the principle is the same.

Not where CEL & Newlyn plc are concerned believe you me.
They 'don't do' 'reasonable' - it's not in their vocabulary.

Were the OP to follow your advice he would simply become a 'hooked-fish' & an avalanche of increasingly menacing threatograms would follow.
Any counter threats of taking action for harassment etc etc are ignored-they're used to it. They're not afraid of empty counter-threats, so why should anyone be afraid of theirs.

Sure, the OP will attract a few threatograms anyway by simply ignoring, but nothing will come of it.
Another thing CEL/Newlyn 'don't do' is court, never have and IMO never will.

I appreciate your comments/advice are well-meaning & given in good faith, but with respect, I and many others here do not agree with you and would advise against it being followed.

IGNORE, IGNORE & IGNORE SOME MORE remains the best strategy for this pair of cattle management operatives in particular, and all others in general.

Ps - As a law-abiding citizen myself, the 'IGNORE' strategy certainly made me feel much better :)

I respect your opinion and would not wish to offer the wrong advice to anyone. I sent one letter in response to one £60 Parking Charge Notice which appears to have achieved its objective in getting the PPC to drop the matter and not contact me again. I do not want ANY threatograms arriving through my letterbox causing anxiety. ;)

OK heres an update I got my 2nd letter its a 'warning' letter its a pinkish colour & it has 'FINAL REMINDER BEFORE LEGAL ACTION' at the top.
It also states 'YOUR ABILITY TO OBTAIN CREDIT IN THE FUTURE COULD BE AFFECTED' Ive read on the forum that theres NO credit agreement, so I dont get how is it these guys can lie about that.

Anyway just wanted know: as it states 'final reminder' does this mean no more threats/letters from these scum?
  • They're not lying when they say "COULD",however I COULD be an astronaut,I COULD be every girls dream.
Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.

Got a huge Buzz out of it.

I know you read a lot about the PPC fake ticket scam when you first posted this thread so you may have already seen everything I will tell you to look at (I was on my sunny hols when you posted!). But the threads I mention below tell you about the letters, what will come next and also a clip of a solicitor holding up a fake PCN with photo 'evidence' of a car in it (see what he then does with said piece of rubbish!).

Anyhoo, you are now in the middle of a mail scam and nothing has changed; do not reply. All these letters are part of the scam so just ignore them like you would if you got a series of phishing emails telling you that you'd won the Nigerian Lottery and just had to supply your Bank details to collect your winnings...

You must sit down and read a few more important threads if you were not expecting these letters; we have them in all their technicolour glory on this forum! If you haven't seen it already, you also need to see the Watchdog paper aeroplane excerpt which is linked in a sticky (permanent info) thread near the top of the forum thread list:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...play.php?f=163

The Watchdog clip is an absolute must-see and it's on the sticky thread near the top of that list called 'WELCOME, please read before posting'.

Then look at the top sticky thread 'PPC letters, what to expect' and just keep on playing a fun game of snap with each matching letter as it arrives.
You will not go to Court; that's so rare it's almost unheard of; the odd PPC that does chance its arm once in a blue moon loses almost every time with a defended case. No-one will come knocking, no bailiff will call; nothing about ignoring this con will affect your credit rating, just keep ignoring and tell your friends/family about this scam.

I had my first fake PCN 3 years ago and would LOVE to collect another, fact I am just off to possibly overstay in a car park as we speak (as a customer of the supermarket I choose to ignore their parking parasites and their random restriction time, and yes, they have a camera. I am just a wife and Mum but have been known to stick 2 fingers up at said camera as I drive in!).

  • Hi guys, just to let you know..Im still getting letters.. had a couple from Newlyn but the most recent states 'NOTICE PRIOR TO COUNTY COURT PROCEEDINGS' & 'you have failed to pay the above ticket & may be registered in the County Court.'

Then it states 'This action will allow Bailiffs to remove household effects and cars from your property, and may affect your credit rating.'

Any advice? Im still ignoring btw :)

Another thing, the Newlyn logo/ motto on the letter it states 'our goal is your success' how is that then? its the complete opposite (just like many organisations, government etc just a bunch of lies, say one thing BUT do another)

I think it should read 'our goal is our success' or 'our goal is your failure/ misery/ loss'

That's the usual and misleading rubbish from this company. For bailiffs to get involved the case would have to go to court (very unlikely) you lose (very, very unlikely ) and THEN you refuse to pay whatever the court orders within 28 days. This is such a remote possibility that it's not worth worrying about. They are trying to scare you into paying when you actually don't owe them a penny.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Ignore the Newlyn letters. That one is already shown in the top sticky thread already linked, you should expect letters for a few months as already advised. The letter-chain of empty threats happens to everyone & it's just a mail scam.
