  • That charge is outrageous and I would be suspicious at their immediate offer to reduce it to one-fifth (implying that they are aware it's outrageous and very likely to be contested!!!)

I didn't realise the implications of data roaming charges abroad and was happily accessing facebook in Portugal. After 3 days I received a text from 02 telling me I'd been charged £20 so far for data roaming and they would let me know when I reached £40. I immediately switched it off!!!

  • Im more amazed that people want to use the internet when they are on holiday.. Why? makes no sense..

Though If your going for business then either get them to pay it or do what i done when i went to japan last year and sort out the hire of Phone and sim whilst i was out there..l A lot cheaper.

    actually yes I can.

    Why? Well its simple.

So yes, yes I can state that I can save more if she travelled after the 1st of July to an EU destination.

As she should only have been charged £44inc VAT for her data...

    Okay?

unless she'd done any of the bit that you didn't quote from the link.....

Well you guess wrong then dont you. I have it but i upload any photos I want to upload at the end of my holiday. I spend enough time by a computer or on a mobile during the working week thanks, holidays are to get away from all that and relax and not have to worry who may have 'updated their status' with often inane and pointless witterings

and its the ops problem not yours

Seriously - all you've done is be unconstructive to the OP - at least I've replied on the subject, not spent the thread trtying to discredit factually correct information
unless she'd done any of the bit that you didn't quote from the link.....

Again - I said it was dependent on dates and destination. Obviously general advise cannot be specific unless specific facts are provided - I don't actually see you adding anything constructive to the issue?

Couple of people trying to help and lots of people picking holes in what's been said.

    How helpful.

I agree. Something must be amiss for them to reduce the bill so rapidly by such a large amount. When do companies do that if they have a legitimate claim to the money? Not often!

haha. They come in useful when you're stuck in a hotel room because your lil one is having a nap, and there's nothing to watch on the telly. Also good for finding good restaurants. I didn't dare use my mobile connection though, and went for the free wifi of course.

They dont have to do anything UNLESS the OP went to the EU and therefore Orange have broken the law by not having a limit on the account in place by default.

And if they went outside the EU and your attitude in this thread reflects the attitude of Orange, then you're right, I'd expect nothing and still not go back to Orange as clearly their service is just as poor as it was 11 years ago when I last used them.

That legislation you posted seems to refer to data you send, not data you receive.
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.
