We are changing from Ntl to Bt on Friday and so will need to change our broadband provider. I thought we would go with Virgin at first to give me time to look around at the other options and then possibly migrate to Metronet or E7even. However, does anyone know the contention ratio on Virgin? I can't find it mentioned on their website and have sent them two emails to ask them with no reply so far.0

I know T+ contention ratio is 50:1
Is that good or bad?0 -
Hi Axeman
Aren't you a T+ rep? Those connected to a company being discussed MUST state that connection within their post

50:1 is the norm for adsl BB, but you can get 20:1 (though it's reflected in the increased price!)0 -
Yes I am a T+ Authorised Distributor as stated on my thread in the referrers section.
Thanks for that info by the way.0 -
Debs626, EFH don't supply a modem though do they? Also, you pay extra for email.0

Anyone out there come across a Broadband service from phones4u through Caldwell Communications (Tiscali) that is offering 512k, free modem & free connection together with unlimited local & national telephone calls all for £24.99 per month?
I thought that the current BT on-line offer of 1Mb plus free phone calls at £29.99 per month was good until I found out that the calls had to be made from your computer via a headset. You can do this anyway with the correct SW it is called voice over IP. So not such a good deal as who wants to have their machine on to call for a pizza!0 -
I have Tesco broadband, signed up as soon as it was announced and despite the initial problems that some people have had I have been very pleased with it.
I work in a small office and on Friday put in an order for Tesco broadband there, upgrading from Tesco dial up, and we will be live with broadband within a week. Modem and filters arrived this morning and date for going live is this Friday.
£19.97 per monthly for uncapped service at 512, personally I get 576 at home, with free modem and two filters. 12 month contract.0 -

Think you'll find that you get 512/256 BB Edinburghlass - as ever it goes 256/512/1024 etc.0 -
576 probably refers to 512 download speed and 64 upload speed. Could be wrong. If this is true, 64 isn't the best, but you won't notice since most people download far more information than they upload.0
