Should we be worried that he still continue's to be using our address for correspondence?

Only if your bin has some kind of fault that stops you putting stuff in it. Yes I am serious.
We've not passed the post on, I'm keeping in as I'm waiting for the LL to come to me and ask if we've had anything.

Perhaps you could reach out and let them know? Seriously, either pass it on/return to sender or bin it - keeping it is a waste of time.

I can't really understand what would be gained by him applying for a mortgage through an address he doesn't have access to or receive the post for? Maybe I am naive but I just don't get it.
If I had a pound for every pound I'd lost, I'd be confused

It is an offence to open mail if it has been incorrectly delivered (Postal Services Act 2000), but it's still morally wrong to open mail delivered correctly but that is not addressed to you.

Send it back - NOT KNOWN AT THIS ADDRESS and if you can determine the company from the OUTSIDE of the envelope (try postcode and PO box in google), call them up and tell them that that person no longer lives at the address and to not send anymore mail.

Put yourself in my shoes. We have just taken up a rental, while we decide where we want to live in a new town, and the house was bought as a repo by our landlord. Every day we receive letters addressed to the repo'd owner, threatening court action and bailiff visits.

You can be absolutely sure I am opening that mail as I want to ensure that bailiffs don't turn up when I'm at work and cause unnecessary stress on my family. If youthink I'm not going to open every peice of mail that comes through my letterbox with my address on it, you're barking.
It's a bit of a gray area as you do not own the house and the LL may be quite happy for his son to receive mail there. In every rental I have been in I have passed on mail for other's to the LL for him to sort out.

You, too, are very wrong on this. It's not a grey area at all. For the duration of the lease, the house is available for my sole benefit. The landlord has no more right to use it than the bloke next door.
