Should we be worried??

My gf and I moved into a house last June, the previous occupier was the LL son.
Since we've moved in we continue to receive the LL son's post. Most of its junk, but a few bits have clearly been sent at his request.
Firstly, he'd submitted an application to the council to hold an event in the City, he put his application in around April time (10 months after he'd moved out), and had obviously put our address down as they returned his application as it was missing information.
We've now received a mortgage quote which is headed up "as you requested".
Should we be worried that he still continue's to be using our address for correspondence? We've not passed the post on, I'm keeping in as I'm waiting for the LL to come to me and ask if we've had anything.

I think I would start writing "not at this address" on anything that comes for him and put it back in the postbox.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

Why on earth haven't you contacted the landlord to tell them that mail has arrived?0

We did, for the first 6 months or so, and then we told them that we're not going to continue to deliver mail to the letting agents that is for a previous tennant and she would have to get her son to update his address with these companies.
We tried writing "Not at this address" on the evenvelopes for the last 6 months, but it has made no difference.
I have absolutely no obligation to forward this persons post onto them, especially when they vacated over a year ago!!0 -
What on earth are you doing opening someone else's post?
If you feel you have no obligation to repost it c/o LL then tell LL you will bin anything that arrives in the future.
Personally I would either do the 'no longer at this address' or send it to LL.
I am still forwarding letters to previous tenants after a year. Easy to forget to give new address to everyone.
Re; the mortgage quote (although none of your business) it may just be an error from the mortgage company relating to a mortgage at that address.
Sorry if I sound bolshie but am agog that you can open private letters like this and post the contents on a public forum.0 -
We still get post for the previous tenant, 18 months after we moved in. Most of it from various banks and credit card companies to whom he owes lots of money despite me returning every single one stating he no longer lives here.
I agree with B&T though; as you know the previous tenant and he is easily contactable, why havn't you told the LL you are getting his son's mail?
Edit: You have told him. Fair enough!
If the son can't be bothered to redirect his mail 12 months after leaving, I'd happily open it too. But I'm just nosy

Stick it back in the post c/o the LL and ask him when he comes round to sort this out.
I know I shouldn't open it, but as far as I'm concerned I've done all I need to:- I've forwarded the post onto the LL.
- I've told them after 6 months that I won't be forwarding any more post so she needs to tell her son to update his details.
- I've written "not at this address" on the envelopes and put it back in the post box.
As far as I'm concerned I've done more than I'm obliged to do, I just want to know whether I should be concerned that he's still using our address over a year after he's moved out.0 -
It's not the LL's post... it's his son's, who shouldn't still be using that address.
Wouldn't hurt to just query it with the LL first though. Say you're just concerned that he's still receiving post at that address. I suppose you'll have to admit to opening it though! Not that you can't, but if it was addressed to someone you know lived there and is the LL's son, I don't really see why you didn't just return it or pass it to the LL.
I'd probably mention it once, but say anything still coming at a later date will be returned to sender. Would ask that he puts a 'forward' on his post.
Jx
PS just seen the updates - should've said more in your first post lol! Just keep sending it back return to sender. I used to write 'please update your records' on too. Always got a lot of post for ex-owners though.2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -

I can open it, its easy, just tear the envelope. If he doesn't want me reading his post, why is he still using our address!
Lets not get this confused, this isn't post address to the LL, its addressed to her son!0 -

We've forwarded post for 6 months and we told the LL that we wouldn't be doing anymore and that he son would need to get his address updated.
I just need to know whether I should be at all concerned that he's made enquiries with companies in the past couple of months using our address even though he vacated over a year ago?0
