  • I think I would start writing "not at this address" on anything that comes for him and put it back in the postbox.

We do this and slowly the amount of post we're getting for previous tenants is decreasing. Only get about 1 per week now instead of 1 per day.
Trying to remain free of unsecured debt and build up some savings.

Have done CeFA and CeMAP exams but no longer regulated.

I just need to know whether I should be at all concerned that he's made enquiries with companies in the past couple of months using our address even though he vacated over a year ago?

No, I don't think that you should. If anything untoward was to happen (unlikely) you'll be the first to know because you're opening it all......

And I don't feel the slightest bit bad about opening it! He made the concious decision to put our address as his a year after he left the house, he must therefore want me to open his post.

Ignore all the criticism. I didn't feel bad about opening the post we got either. It was fortunate I did given that bailiffs came to our house on several occasions!

My view is that I am at the address on the envelope, therefore I can open it. I don't care whose name is on it.

If a letter drops through your letter box and it is addressed to your address then you can do whatever you like with it.

You can eat it, rip it up, set fire to it, or be rude to it....:T

I personally would write the usual 'Not at this address' on it and drop it back in the post box :A Job done!

It's not their address though, you rent so really you have no ownership over that address. The landlord may be hsppy for her son to use her address. Isn't really your decision.

Nope. Gawd, this comes up on a regular basis too. Only illegal if in transit. Not once it's been delivered.
