Giving up Diet Coke!

I work closely with a girl who has a cocaine addiction and its awful to watch her behaviour & deterioration. When she is not high she is filling herself with caffeine ...whether that be coffee, tea, coke or red bulls. She doesnt really sleep well (d'ah!) but recently went 3 whole days without sleeping... her answer... stock up on valiums to knock herself out instead. She really doesnt make the connection between all the stimulants she consumes and her trouble sleeping problems... it is so frustrating.0

Hello all!
I'm Catz747 & I was a caffeine-o-holic. I have been on decaff only for 6 weeks or so now. Granted it has caffeine in but not nearly as much as normal instant coffee. No more headaches, no more waking up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night. The weight I put on after I stopped has dropped off againI sleep better. Just need to tackle the nicotine & residual anxiety problem

Well I think I can say I'm completely un-addicted to Diet Coke now. Over 6 weeks and I don't even fancy a drink of it anymore.
Thanks Snarfy! All down to you!Debt as at 12th July 2006 - £61,345

Oh my God, I thought I was the only one!
I tried to give up, once the first couple of days were over I did ok, lastd for about 2 weeks. Now I drink a couple of cans every few days, but this thread has inspired me to start again!...I like my coffee black, just like my metal!

Saw this link in another thread.
I have been drinking DC every day for the past, at least, 10 years, I would say.
I don't drink alcohol, so its my treat. I occasionally drink water and fruit juices, but its mainly DC. I have it when I am out, and I always have it in. Probably on average, about 3 cans a day.
Why should I not be drinking it?? Its one of my few pleasures. We all have them. I don't have insomnia, I sleep like a baby, my teeth are fine....etc Yes, I know its linked with cancer but so are a lot of things.
If it is really causing me some serious damage, then please tell me, because I would need serious motivation to give up the only drink I really like.
Many thanks.A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition~ William Arthur Ward ~0 -
