I've written housestyle guides for several clients and I always include something like: Unless you're writing a formal document, forget that school rule about not starting sentences with and or but. There's no good reason for it.

Chev I'm rather envious of your plans to start a new life in New Zealand. I'm sure you're right to rent for a while before buying - give yourself a chance to check out different areas and options. I'm sure your life will be 100 per cent better over there - everyone I know who has lived there talks about the wonderful quality of life.

I'm ashamed of living such a stressed-out work-dominated life and really hope it will not be too long before I too have choices about where and how to live.

Hey, don't be ashamed of working hard!

    Please?

Well we do have some advantages. OH is dual national Aussie/British, which means he just can go and live and work there with his passport. Boys are dual nationality too by descent, so they go in the same way. It is only me who has to go through visa channels - GROAN. And we have been planning it for a while too. Would have been gone in February except for issues with OH work here, means we can't leave until it is sorted. HE hasn't done anything wrong, but what some other p**t has done affects him. It is really frustrating!

Not ashamed of working hard, but ashamed of never being able to switch off.

Chev I hope those problems at your OH's work are sorted soon.

Good luck with that essay - and trying to do it with the children around.

I'm off to bed now. I'm doing the paper round tomorrow morning as DDs are on yet another sleepover. So I get to earn £2... great!

  • Sounds alot of hard work for £2! mind you if you've got weather like us, you'll be buying an ice cream each lol.

Did you see the Star Wars exhibition in London? Storm Troopers on the roof of the Dali museum... was all a bit surreal! Glad you had a good time... and yes I'm still stalking you lol

    Hi CharliesAngel

I actually enjoy doing the paper round - the £2 is just a bonus!

I didn't see the Star Wars exhibition. I've never been a fan particularly. Though having seen Han Solo again I'm surprised I didn't take more interest. He's gorgeous!

Hi SEAx ....glad you had a good weekend at your sisters and that you're going back again...and...all the lovely free veg is an added bonus!!!...good luck with all the work you have to do..you'll get through it...just think of it as another step closer to being debt free...I know what you mean about switching off though..it can be really hard...could you not think of the your day as in segments..like people that have to go out to work do...ie...get up stick washing in and have breakfast...at 10am get to work on your projects...12.30 stop for lunch ...then back to your desk and work until 4ish...then the evening is yours to do what you like with your family...it's just an idea...but...may be a stupid one!!!

hi Taxi. Not a stupid idea at all, a very sensible one!

Good time-management and self-discipline are the key and that's where I fall down. But I must not give up hope, it can't be impossible, I can get better at it,

At this time of year I feel jealous of people who get 'holidays' but I have to remind myself that I'm self-employed by choice and it does have lots of advantages.

I have decided to "Bumble on through" August, then in September when I have a new student in and have to actually go out for work, (albeit for one day a week only) I am planning my new improved organisation!!!

I am starting on it now - lots of brainstorming/notes on pads/bashing numbers on calculators so that by the time we reach 1st Sept I will be raring to go!

Told OH I was having a rejig of budgets and he just gave me "that" look - you know the one
