Hi, just noticed your last entry - you're not allowed to sell fakes on ebay. Be very very careful listing anything with a brand name like that as they are quick to judge over at ebay and they make life very difficult - I was stopped from selling branded cosmetics even though I have a perfectly legitimate source and they're all genuine - just because they decided that I 'looked' dodgy, Got a ban for 90 days, still can't get on there. VERY unfair and totally unjustified.0

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys. I wish I felt so optimistic! With a declining income and new £833/month outgoing I actually feel scared.
As if we didn't have enough money to find, DDs 1&2 saw the orthodontist today. The verdict is that their teeth aren't wonky enough for the NHS, but they have been recommended braces at £2500 each!! Luckily DD1 isn't bothered, but DD2 is convinced she looks like a freak and wants the work done. So we'll have to do some research, I hope there are cheaper options out there.
But the good news is that OH astonished me today by producing a notebook with some sums in. This turned out to be his business plan to get us out of debt by selling paintings on the internet. So here's the first test of my 'be nice' resolution. When he's mentioned similar plans in the past I have raised a sceptical eyebrow and said 'I told you so' when they failed to materialise. This time, I am encouraging him that it's a good idea and will try to help him with the execution.
Still, I can't give up the day job yet. I've got lots of work on and despite Sea's encouragement have done very little these past two days. The kids are back at school tomorrow so I have no excuse not to get on with it properly.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Seaxwyn, most orthodontists will let you pay monthly (sorry to add another monthly)
How old is DD2, maybe you can convince her to wait a bitOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
We had a similar thing with our DD but thankfully she isn't bothered at the moment. I daresay there will be a time when her vampire teeth become an issue (unless she becomes a goth!) and we will have to consider the cost at that point. Until then, vampire teeth it is!
Good luck to OH with the business plan, I really hope something comes of it!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
They are both 14 (twins). He did mention monthly payments but I really don't want another outgoing. The silly thing is that really their teeth are fine. He's only talking about moving one tooth each! I remember reading an article about 'dental tourism' - perhaps I should put them on a coach to Poland....Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

Just as I'm getting into a state worrying how I'll afford my £830/month tax payments this year, good old Barclaycard come to the rescue.
I've received some cheques in the post which I can use to pay the tax bill (I checked), they are at 0% til July 09 with a 2.5% fee.
I am VERY tempted to use a cheque to pay off the bulk of the tax bill. Yes I know it's yet more debt, which is not a good thing. However in reality I already owe the debt to HMRC, and as things stand I'm paying HMRC 7ish per cent interest (I must be in denial as I can't remember the figure) AND will inevitably be making use of my 18.36% NatWest overdraft if I have to pay the payments as agreed.
What would you do?Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Seaxwyn, would the minimum payments be less than the HMRC monthly payments?Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0
