Ban dree is how it's pronounced.0

tyllwyd is Welsh, meaning grey house - really it should be two words, ty (tee) and llwyd (loowid) but with a welsh sound where you put the tongue to the top of your mouth and hiss out of the sides for the 'll' ! I know I'm a bit anti-social for using it, but it comes from when I signed up for my first forum, and it was a big site so everything I tried was taken and I got desperate! It comes from my address when I was growing up.
About an accountant - I've never used one, because being part-time I've only ever earned about £7000, so there isn't the scope for saving tax to pay their fees. I'm a terrible worrier though, so every now and again I wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat because I've wound myself up about whether I've made a mistake in my return. But then I tell myself that the Revenue wouldn't bother with me because they couldn't claim enough extra tax out of me to pay a day's salary for the inspector!
I'm working more hours now with the kids at school now though, so I am wondering a bit whether I should get one.0 -
Great, now I know how to read those names. Tyllwyd, I feel the same about my name, which I don't know how to pronounce either. I chose it at random never thinking it would get so much use.
I've emailed ten friends about accountants and have had two recommendations already. Result! I don't think it is worth bothering really if your earnings and outgoings are quite small, but mine are quite substantial now and I should be doing sensible things like valuing my equipment properly, paying into a pension and all sorts. And I could legitimately 'hire' my OH too. So it's time to set up Seawxyn Enterprises Ltd and register offshore.....Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

Once again the college have messed up OH's pay. It beggers belief how many ways they can find to mess up.
Under their new system (introduced to make it easier for sessional lecturers to get paid), he has to get a contract signed by the 5th of the month in order to get paid on the 25th of the following month. Simple.
Well on the 24th of October, a day before we were expecting his September pay, OH received a letter saying that they have retrospectively dropped him down a grade - from £35/hour to £26 - so the contract that was signed before 5th September is invalid. We don't know whether they will pay him later this month or whether he has to wait til 25 November, which wouldn't surprise me.
I am beyond flabbergasted. Do they really have so little respect for their sessional lecturers?Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
!!!! Seems to me that they can *say* the contract is invalid, but they're actually breaking it by varying the conditions without prior arrangement and consent? They sound an appalling employer, they really do. Sorry you've got another issue like this.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

If the contract was signed by both sides, then the pay department don't have the right to retrospectively drop him down a grade. They can renegotiate the next months, but they can't change what has been agreed.0

OMG ..that's terrible.I would get OH to phone them first thing monday as surely they can't lower his pay just like that and secondly they should have still paid him what he's owed.Shouldn't have thought they are allowed to drop a grade after a signed contract.0

Thanks you three. I will encourage him to challenge it. I am so furious on his behalf.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620
