I don't know if any union would take an interest in OH's case as he's not a union member. The college is a real shambles. OH is only a sessional lecturer, paid by the hour and treated like !!!!!!, yet he is a vital part of the department. I've just looked on the college website and there is an article bragging about how great the animation course is and what good connections they have with the industry - well that is largely down to OH. Ooooh I'm so cross.

Anyway... on a more positive note I've got a quick editing job to do this weekend (about badger populations and traffic - I'm looking forward to it!). Then someone is coming to pick up a bed we've sold on ebay and hand over £82 cash. I'm going to have a hunt for more stuff to put on ebay and Amazon.

I hope that OH pay issues get sorted soon. Could the difference be between qualified and non qualified levels? Whatever the reason, it doesn't help the "expectation" of being paid a certain amount at a certain time. Another hurdle to overcome.

But good news on the other - ebay and your own work. One day everything will fall into place, but until then, we have to take the rough with the smooth - or the rough with some more rough, and then hope for a bit of the smooth to make an appearance!

It's because he was teaching the foundation students in September, which is a different grade from the degree students. Fair enough - but NOT fair enough to only realise this the day before Pay Day. seven weeks after the wrong contract was submitted. So instead of getting the right amount of pay for the job, he gets nothing at all.

I will talk to him tonight about complaining and insisting that he gets paid this week. They had better check over his October contract too as he has worked loads this month and we need that money to arrive on 25 November.

That's their stuff up not his, he worked the hours on the understanding that he was being paid X amount, and contracts were submitted to that effect, therefore they have to pay him that rate.

I've updated my signature - this month we have reduced our debt by a grand total of £114.55. That's the third consecutive month there's been a drop, which is good, but it's not a very big one. And we haven't saved anything for tax...

However we both have payments on their way - OH's delayed wages should hit the bank around Wednesday. And we both have lots of work on now. I even have a new contract paying £230/day, well above my usual £175. :j And a job to do this weekend of around 7 hours, paying 45 Euros/hour (£35).

OH has worked 11 days in Oct and will work the same in Nov. So for the next two months at least we should be solvent.

No brainwaves over how to raise the £8k needed in January. But OH and I had a discussion about it and he seems motivated to try to sell some botanical illustrations he did years ago. Who knows if there will be any market but it is quite a specialist field so easy to research.
