I've got a message from A&L about charges for my short period over my overdraft limit. I will get charged £35 total: £10 for being over the limit (£5 per day capped at £10) and £25 as they had to review whether to pay a cheque).

Does that sound unreasonable? Should I appeal?

for the price of a stamp on a well worded letter, I think it would be worth a go - you might well get that £25 back.

Don't what your hourly rate is Seax, but think how many hours £25 and then appeal! On the old if you don't ask you don't get principle.

He's just about to take them out actually. He's been entertaining them pretty well this morning.

And he has agreed to ring up about a two hours a fortnight gardening job. £12.50 an hour!

I am going to write 6.000 words today. Not 'try to' - I'm going to do it.

Hi Seaxwyn..don't know about the bank charges it may be worth a letter.Good luck to your DH getting that gardening job but it would help so much more if he got a full time job.Have you spoke to him about the financial situation and how serious things are.
How's those 6000 words going? xx

HI taxi. I've finished the first of two 3,000 word pieces. Well its come out as 3,500 so I need to delete some! It needs a bit of a tidy up but I'm very chuffed to have it done, after 3 weeks of putting it off! I hope the other one proves as easy.

OH does understand how serious the situation is, but he's very daunted about applying for jobs as he has no qualificatiosn and has hardly ever had a job in his life, he's always been self-employed.

I'm going to lay off nagging him until we see how much teaching work he has for the next term. Meanwhile ringing about the gardening job seems quite positive. It's minimal hours but it's not a bad hourly rate for casual work.

He and DS have gone out on their bikes this afternoon, I'm sure they'll have a great time.

I too have written 3500 words today, but they are various ramblings on MSE so I don't think they count :o

Glad you've got those words written and that you found it easier than expected. You met your challenge so now you've earnt a reward...Have you got some more to do there and how long before they are due in?
If you have just knock them into bitesize chunks and do one bit at a time and before you know it you'll have done them all with time to spare.
